Chapter Four: Fiery Woman PK Iceberg Man (1)

The moment Hua Ling stepped inside, she was dumbfounded. Damn it! There were two men in here—which one was Mu Yelei? The people inside seemed startled by the sudden intruder as well, and abruptly raised their heads to look at her. One of them instantly went rigid, staring at her coldly.

The instant her gaze met his, Hua Ling could not help shuddering from head to toe. A man in blue robes, with a handsome, expressionless face, crashed suddenly into her field of vision. He had a tall, slender figure as straight as a standard pole, healthy wheat-colored skin, blade-carved brows, a high, straight nose bridge, thin lips pressed tightly together, and a pair of pitch-black eyes that occasionally flashed dark green. There was an aloof, cool detachment about him, like a great recluse hidden in the marketplace.

For some reason, the moment Hua Ling saw him, she was certain in her heart that he was Mu Yelei. That icy aura came straight through the air toward her, making her feel extremely uncomfortable.

The other man was devastatingly handsome, his face as sharply defined as a sculpture, every feature distinct, his angular face extraordinarily beautiful. At first glance, he seemed wanton and unrestrained, but the sharp gleam that inadvertently surfaced in his eyes made it impossible for anyone to underestimate him. His thick, jet-black hair was gathered high beneath a golden crown. Beneath a pair of sword-like brows were long, narrow peach-blossom eyes, brimming with amorous charm, the sort that could make a person fall in before they knew it. His nose was high and straight, and his red lips, neither too thick nor too thin, were now curved in a dazzling smile.

Men with peach-blossom eyes were bound to be fickle in love. Hua Ling simply ignored him. Turning her head to look at Mu Yelei, her face was fearless as she secretly told herself not to be afraid. Weren’t they just a bunch of ancient people? What was there to be scared of!

“If you’re not staying in your Yinlü Pavilion, what are you doing here? Is this a place you ought to come?” His icy, merciless voice instantly seemed to freeze the very air.

Jin Junxi thought to himself that they did indeed know each other. But why did Mu Yelei have such a cold attitude? Besides, she was a great beauty, after all. As he thought this, he looked up at the person opposite him, only to see that pair of seductive peach-blossom eyes flashing with a strange light, staring fixedly at Hua Ling. Without thinking, he knew exactly what the man was plotting. Jin Junxi slowly walked to his side and said in a low voice, “This one has thorns. She’s not easy to provoke. Even I’ve already run into a wall.”

“Is that so? Then I’m even more interested.” A faint, playful smile appeared on the man’s sculpted face. Ordinary women could be found by the handful, but those with personality were rare.

Hua Ling naturally paid no attention to what Jin Junxi and the other man were saying. But when she heard Mu Yelei’s words, she nearly choked on her anger. She could not help feeling sorry for Xia Ziying—how had she ended up marrying such a thing!

“I shouldn’t come here? Then where am I supposed to go?” Hua Ling slowly walked up to him and said with an innocent expression, her face still glowing with a silly smile, just like some lovestruck fool.

Seeing Hua Ling’s expression and hearing the exchange between the two of them, Jin Junxi could not help feeling that something was off. He could not resist asking, “Yelei, who is she?”

It would have been better if he had not asked. The moment he did, Mu Yelei’s expression became even uglier, like ten-thousand-year-old ice covered in a thick layer of frost. The entire room seemed to enter winter, the temperature plummeting in a straight line.

“Why aren’t you saying anything? Tell them who I am. I think they’re very curious to know. If you can’t bring yourself to say it, then I’ll say it for you.” Hua Ling lifted her little face and spoke as if she feared the world would not fall into chaos, a mocking smile still on her lips. In her heart, she said darkly, Who are you trying to scare with that iceberg face! Damn it, this grandaunt is a genius beauty from the twenty-first century. If I’m afraid of you, then my surname isn’t Hua!
