Chapter Six: Fiery Woman PK Iceberg Man III
Hua Ling cursed angrily, “Damn it, are you even a man? To think you’d say such irresponsible things. If you didn’t like her, you shouldn’t have married her. Since you married her, you should treat her well. A burden? You actually compared your own wife to a burden, you bastard.” The more she spoke, the angrier she became. Hua Ling picked up the brush holder on the table and, with a whoosh, hurled it at Mu Yelei.
Mu Yelei had dodged the inkstone she had thrown earlier, but he had failed to avoid the ink inside it. His blue-green clothes were splattered all over with ink, and several drops had even landed on his face. He had only just steadied himself when the brush holder came smashing toward him as well. The writing brushes inside flew every which way, and in his carelessness, a few struck him too, adding several more blotches and streaks to his already ink-stained clothes.
“Have you gone mad? What are you doing?” Mu Yelei simply could not believe that this was something the honest, dull Xia Ziying, as she had always been, would do. His shock far outweighed his anger.
The two men at the side could not help clicking their tongues. They had truly witnessed the bearing of a shrew today. Just look at Mu Yelei’s body and face—tsk, tsk, what a spectacular sight. Ah, Mu Yelei had probably never been in such a sorry state in his entire life! The two of them could not help letting out soft chuckles, which earned them a vicious sideways glare from Mu Yelei.
“What am I doing? This young lady is teaching a heartless, ungrateful bastard like you a lesson. You actually dared to say I was a burden. If you hadn’t married me back then, if you hadn’t forced yourself to accept me for the sake of that so-called responsibility, then at the very least, I would be much happier than I am now. Bastard, you ruined yourself, and even more, you ruined me.” Hua Ling truly felt that Xia Ziying had been wronged. This poor woman had actually lost her life because of it. She had to seek justice for Xia Ziying. It could also count as thanking her for giving her this body and allowing her to be reborn.
Mu Yelei was shaken. Yes, Xia Ziying was right. The two of them had both been ruined by this marriage. Two people who did not love each other—wasn’t being together every day a form of torment? His deep eyes looked at Xia Ziying, whose face was full of anger, and he said faintly, “What exactly do you want?”
Jin Junxi and Jin Junchi’s four gleaming eyes turned toward Hua Ling in unison, wondering what sort of conditions this interesting woman would propose.
Hua Ling smiled slightly, the corners of her mouth curving beautifully as she said, “It’s very simple. I want freedom.”
“Freedom? Fine. From now on, you may go wherever you want within the entire prime minister’s residence. No one will stop you.” Mu Yelei thought that this was the freedom Hua Ling wanted and agreed without hesitation.
“Not just that. I also want the freedom to leave the residence,” Hua Ling said as if it were only natural. If she did not go out, how could she understand the outside world? If she did not understand the outside world, she would not know how to survive. So this was of vital importance.
“Don’t push your luck.” Mu Yelei did not like women casually going out into the streets. It was highly improper. What sort of thing was it for a married woman to show her face in public all day long?
“Well, Yelei, this isn’t really anything. Our Bailian Kingdom has open customs. It’s perfectly normal for women to go out into the streets. It’s no big deal. Why be so petty?” Jin Junxi suddenly cut in. He simply felt that he wanted to help this woman named Xia Ziying. Besides, what he said was also the truth. He just did not understand why this fellow was objecting.
“Forget it. Do as you please.” Mu Yelei did not want to keep entangling with her over such a matter, so he gave in.
Hua Ling nodded in satisfaction, then turned to look at Jin Junxi and smiled slightly, expressing her thanks for his righteous assistance. Then she added, “Oh, and by the way, I need palatable meals. If you make the cooks prepare things for me that even dogs wouldn’t eat again, then don’t blame me for tearing down your kitchen.”
“Yelei, aren’t you going too far, treating her like this?” Jin Junxi was startled when he heard Hua Ling say that.
“I didn’t.” Mu Yelei replied briefly.
Hua Ling looked at that eternally frozen face of his. For some reason, she believed he was telling the truth. She nodded and said, “All right, I believe you. But please tell that snobbish kitchen steward of yours that if he dares bully me again, don’t blame me for being impolite.”
Mu Yelei did not respond. He merely looked at Hua Ling with eyes that had become slightly different. This woman still had the same face, so why had her personality undergone such an earth-shaking change? There was a problem here!
