Absolute Glasses Midas Episode 8
Yu Han had taken quite a liking to the car that Employee I Ji-hye guided them to.
Just then, Gim Seon spoke up.
“Don’t you have any better new models available?”
“Ah! We have a new car that came in yesterday. The safety features are the same as the one I just showed you, but the price is a bit higher. Shall I show it to you right away?”
“Yes! Please show us that car!”
Section Chief Jeong Cheol-hwan watched the group, including Employee I Ji-hye, wondering if they would buy that car.
Seeing Gim Seon’s attire, he had surmised she was a wealthy lady and, giving in to greed, had tried to sell her an expensive car.
But he had assumed they were merely browsing and would leave without purchasing from him.
Yet a shocking turn of events unfolded that left him filled with regret.
“I’ll take this one! In black, please. Give me the contract. Ah! And this car is for Yu Han. Da-hui, you pick out a car too! Whatever car you want! Since we’re at it, it would be nice to have a comfortable and pretty car on hand!”
Employee I Ji-hye was surprised, and Section Chief Jeong Cheol-hwan was also astonished.
Gim Seon received the contract and began filling it out, while I Da-hui went with Employee I Ji-hye to choose a car.
I Da-hui approached a white convertible that cost a whopping 85 million won, examined it closely, and decided on it.
Employee I Ji-hye was overjoyed to have sold two cars at once for the first time.
The black large sedan they had first chosen cost 105 million won.
I Da-hui and Yu Han belatedly saw the prices and were startled.
They had spent nearly 200 million won in barely thirty minutes.
“Is it really okay to buy such expensive cars?”
“I considered safety, so this much is perfectly fine!”
Yu Han was slightly worried.
Meanwhile, I Da-hui beside him was over the moon.
“Thank you, Gim Seon! I’ll drive it well!”
Section Chief Jeong Cheol-hwan was inwardly beating the ground in regret.
In the meantime, Employee I Ji-hye felt as if she were soaring through the heavens, beaming with delight at having sold two promotional cars in one go.
Yu Han thought that this man named Section Chief Jeong Cheol-hwan would regret his actions, and he felt a pleasant sense of vindication.
‘Try conducting business with a cleaner heart next time!’
Employee I Ji-hye was honest, truly had the customer’s best interests at heart, and had done everything she could.
She handed out new business cards to each member of the group separately and exchanged greetings with everyone.
“I’ll call you as soon as the cars are released! I’ll deliver them to you personally.”
“Yes! See you then!”
And so, mutually satisfied, the group went on their way.
The place they arrived at after the car dealership was a not-too-large building somewhere in Gangnam.
They took the elevator up, and the place Gim Seon guided them to was a hanbok tailoring shop.
“This is the place I come to when I get my hanbok tailored!”
“Hanbok?”
It was a shop that tailored high-end hanbok.
Gim Seon had always been displeased that Yu Han only borrowed and wore the Virgin Bodhisattva I Da-hui’s long robe to work, making for a ridiculous outfit.
So she brought him here and picked out a white high-end hanbok to wear underneath and a blue durumagi.
“Since you’re moving to a new place, I’ve brought you here to have new clothes tailored.”
Speaking tactfully so as not to hurt his feelings, Gim Seon also picked out a sky-blue chima that revealed the calves and a white jeogori for I Da-hui.
After picking out all the clothes, Yu Han noticed where Gim Seon’s gaze had drifted.
He wondered what she was looking at.
‘What is she looking at?’
[Wishes someone would recommend a hanbok for her to wear while working.]
[Is cautiously reading the room.]
[Is seriously contemplating.]
Finding Gim Seon cute, Yu Han let out a chuckle.
‘She really is cute! People are all the same at times like this! She’s just like my mom!’
Did she think of them as coworkers? Did she want to be acknowledged?
Yu Han felt such a Gim Seon was all the more endearing.
Among the hanbok hanging above, Yu Han personally chose one for her: an indigo-toned chima and a white jeogori with pink flower embroidery.
“For me too? I’m really fine…!”
“We’re one family now!”
Though she pretended otherwise, her joyful expression suited the hanbok beautifully.
Indeed, it suited her the best of the three; she was a beautiful middle-aged woman who would stand out anywhere at a glance.
After finishing their hanbok fittings, the three ate at a nearby high-end full-course Korean restaurant.
I Da-hui and Gim Seon beamed at each other, delighted beyond measure.
Gim Seon seemed to be in a good mood, perhaps because it was the first time she had received a gift from Yu Han.
Meanwhile, I Da-hui looked like an immature daughter enjoying a shopping spree.
Yu Han considered peeking into the two’s hearts with his glasses, but decided against it.
‘If Mother were alive, would she have been that happy too?’
Seeing the joyful Gim Seon reminded Yu Han of his mother, and he regretted that he had succeeded yet could no longer show her filial piety.
The three enjoyed their meal and wrapped up the day nicely.
They spent happy days.

A very good opportunity had finally come.
No—the moment he looked into this person’s heart, he had thought a good opportunity had come.
“You see, my late father appeared in a dream and taught me some numbers, but I can’t remember two of them!”
The man sitting before Yu Han was Yu Hak-su. He was forty years old.
He was a man who worked hard at a construction site while supporting his elderly mother alone.
The reason he had come here was that a few days ago, his late father had appeared in his dreams and abruptly told him to write down some numbers.
But he couldn’t remember all the numbers and was deeply frustrated.
Yu Han looked at him with his glasses, heart fluttering, and thought,
‘Hehe, I’ll get to know the numbers too, won’t I?’
Yu Han expected that he would learn the numbers too and receive the prize money himself.
‘What are the lottery numbers that would let this man win?’
[Numbers he wants to know: 35, 44.]
[Has been a filial son since childhood.]
[Recommends not being greedy.]
“…….”
‘So it’s not showing me all the numbers—only two of them!’
Yu Han let out a hollow laugh.
Thinking, *A pine caterpillar must eat pine needles to survive, after all*, he soon gave up and told the man the numbers.
“If I win, I will definitely come back to see you.”
“Yes! Please win and live happily with your mother!”
“Yes, thank you. I will certainly do that.”
And the following week, news broke of a winner for a lottery with an enormous jackpot; since it had rolled over for quite some time, the prize was a whopping 15 billion won.
News also reported that a single person had won it.
Yu Han recalled the numbers he had told the man and thought that the one named Yu Hak-su who had received them must have won.
‘Good for him. I wish I knew the numbers too.’
A month passed, and the weather had grown so cool that mornings and evenings were now chilly.
And when Chuseok arrived without fail, Yu Han went with his father in a luxury imported car, stopped by a department store, and gifted his father fine hanbok and a suit.
“Isn’t this too expensive?”
“Your son earns good money! Don’t worry!”
And inside the moving car, he also gifted his father a bank account passbook with thirty million won.
“Please spend it on yourself, Father! Your son earns well! I’ll give you more next time!”
“How am I supposed to spend this? It’s money you earned through hard work…!”
“Buy a car or go on a trip! Just spend it comfortably.”
“Why would I need a car? I’d only travel if we went together! I won’t go alone.”
“When things calm down, let’s go on an overseas trip together!”
“Then you take this money back!”
“I really earn a lot, so don’t worry and spend it! If you keep this up, I’ll get angry!”
“Alright. I’ll save it and use it gratefully!”
His father refused firmly, but when Yu Han threw a tantrum and got angry, he reluctantly accepted it, saying he would save it for when Yu Han got married.
While shopping, Yu Han saw his father from behind and noticed how his father’s shoulders had grown smaller.
‘He used to dream of running an orchard…!’

The place the father and son arrived at by car was the woodland cemetery where his mother rested.
It did not look like a particularly fine place, but it overlooked the reservoir his mother had wished for.
Yu Han and his father placed the offerings they had brought before his mother’s resting place. Yu Han bowed, and his father watched him with a satisfied gaze.
‘Mom! I’m here!’
Yu Han bowed to his mother.
When the bowing was done, his father greeted her in a loud voice.
“Honey! I’m here! I missed you! Are you doing well? Today our son gave me a gift and spending money! Our son has grown up well, hasn’t he?”
“Mom! Dad really won’t listen! I gave him money from working hard, but he keeps refusing to take it! Mom, please scold him!”
When Yu Han said that, the father and son looked at each other and laughed.
Before leaving, Yu Han greeted his mother inwardly.
‘Mom! Don’t worry about Father and rest comfortably there! I’ll earn a lot of money and buy a good house and land in the countryside so Father can farm and live comfortably! Watch over your successful son. I love you, Mom. I’ll come again!’
That day, Yu Han felt deeply grateful to the glasses that had allowed him to earn so much money and visit his mother so proudly.

As early October—the peak of autumn—arrived, the fortune-telling shop moved.
It was less a move and more like an expression of just the people relocating; there was hardly anything worth taking from I Da-hui’s original shop.
All the furniture and household items were new.
Other than that, they simply packed clothes and necessities and arrived at the new place.
After the three discussed it together, they named the place Chamsindang because the oak tree was so beautiful.
They had deliberated quite a bit so the name could carry many meanings.
“I think this place is so pretty!”
“We’re all of one mind!”
Da-hui, who was seeing the house for the first time, was overjoyed, bouncing around the spacious yard and saying how beautiful it was.
“Wow~ I’m so happy!”
After each chose their room and moved their luggage, they sat in the gazebo beneath the oak tree, gazing at the autumn scenery, and finished the pleasant move.
“Tomorrow is the housewarming and relocation celebration, so go in and rest quickly!”
Gim Seon spoke of the next day’s schedule, but Yu Han and I Da-hui, perhaps because they were in good spirits, did not go inside.
Leaning against each other’s shoulders, they only returned to their respective rooms when the beautiful sunset was nearly gone.
‘I’m so worried about Father, but he refuses to come live with us!’
Unable to sleep, Yu Han worried about his father living alone.
‘I’ll earn money quickly and buy you land in the countryside. Please wait just a little longer!’

The next day was spent busily.
Many regulars from the previous shop and Gim Seon’s acquaintances came.
Judging by how many people came, the renown of the Seer was truly remarkable.
The food they had prepared in advance ran out quickly, and the emergency provisions brought from nearby were also completely consumed.
And so, the housewarming and relocation ceremony concluded safely.
Though the guests helped before leaving, tasks piled up like a mountain.
Gim Seon, who had already felt they would need to recruit people to manage the large house, asked the two for their opinions.
“The house is so big that I think we’ll need people to help manage it.”
“Of course you should.”
Having witnessed Gim Seon’s labors, Yu Han and I Da-hui naturally agreed that they should hire help. Having received their answer, Gim Seon posted recruitment notices and asked people she knew for recommendations.
And so the interview day arrived, and Yu Han began looking at the candidates through his glasses.
