Chapter 12 - Colossal Doggo

After taking my first shower in the bunker, I bought a tracksuit, changed into it, and came out to the living room.

The clothes I’d originally been wearing reeked so badly of rot that I couldn’t possibly keep them on.

“Ugh, that stench… I was wearing that?”

It was the kind of smell that made you feel like, if it touched a human body, you’d catch some disease on the spot.

I tossed them straight into the trash can, tied up the plastic bag, and sealed off the smell.

But this trash can—I didn’t remember buying it.

Was it because this was a fancy 50,000-point item, so they threw in a bunch of freebies?

When I looked around, I started noticing one or two basic necessities like the trash can.

“A trash can, cushions, blankets, slippers… It’s got everything except furniture?”

Maybe it was because I’d bought something pretty expensive.

Having all sorts of stuff reverse-pickpocketed into my possession put me in a good mood.

[Congratulations on your move, Rain. The bunker management tab has been added. I recommend checking it.]

“Thank you, Miss Sora.”

Was she being considerate because I’d been so out of it?

Once I seemed to have grasped the situation, Miss Sora immediately informed me about how to manage the bunker.

For a bunker that cost 50,000 points, it was incredibly simple.

“Miss Sora? Are these magic stones used in place of electricity?”

[Electricity, you say? I do not understand the word.]

“Mm, what I mean is…”

Right. As a question to ask an intelligent being from a shattered, doomed medieval world, that was a zero out of ten.

I gathered my thoughts for a moment, then asked again.

“Are magic stones used to make things like the lights attached to the ceiling right now, or the warm water that came out when I washed earlier?”

[Yes. That is correct. Magic stones are used as the bunker’s power source. Magic stones may be purchased from the ‘Head Mod Exclusive Shop,’ and the magic stone currently in use costs 1,000P.]

“Thanks for telling me, Sora-Sora.”

Apparently, this house’s electricity bill was prepaid.

Prepaid electricity? Not bad. Fresh idea.

I was about to check the system right away, but then I turned my gaze toward Miss Sora’s chat window.

I could press View Details to check, but since I’d come to a new home anyway, it didn’t seem bad to look around with Miss Sora, like a housewarming.

“Miss Sora, could you personally introduce the bunker to me?”

First of all, this was a housewarming, wasn’t it?

Wouldn’t it be more fun to look around with someone else than to wander around reading explanations alone?

With that thought, I asked Miss Sora to explain the bunker.

[Of course. The place where you are currently standing is the living room, so I will explain starting from here. As you can see, because this is a building designed for safety, there are no windows. However, air circulates continuously through the ventilation ducts visible above...]

Was it because this was an expensive house?

Miss Sora’s explanation went on endlessly.

Boring and pedantic.

Still, seeing her explain everything so quickly, I got the sense that she was somewhat excited.

[...Furniture such as beds may be purchased and used separately. Also, the kitchen is said to be equipped with a tool called an induction stove used for cooking. This tool operates by consuming magic stones. If you want additional space, you may use ‘Expand Space’ in the ‘Bunker Management System.’ That concludes the explanation.]

“Thank you, Miss Sora.”

[Not at all. Please call me again whenever you need me.]

So according to Miss Sora’s explanation, one large room, one small room, one bathroom, a living room, and an entrance had all been crammed tightly into a small space.

And because it was underground, there were no windows.

Nice.

A life where I could tell day and night solely by a clock perfectly matched the direction in life I pursued.

Kkiya-hoo!

Moved by the fact that I could live without seeing light from now on, I accessed the gallery shop.

[Purchase Items / Exchange]

It was good that I had a house.

But the inside was completely empty.

When I showered in the bathroom earlier, there was nowhere to put anything, so I’d had to line things up on the floor and use them from there.

“First, a sofa for the living room, a bed for the bedroom… I’ll need a folding dining table and a chair too, right?”

Since the room was narrow, a single bed. Since the living room was narrow, a single sofa. Since I had to save space, a folding dining table and chair. I neatly put them all in the cart and checked the price.

I quickly bought and placed the cheapest options I could find: a bed for 700P, a sofa for 300P, and a dining table for 50P.

Then I swept my gaze over the now fully furnished house.

“Happiness is not far away. It always exists right beside me…”

There wasn’t a single thing wrong with that saying.

Because it really did exist beside me.

“How does it look to you, Miss Sora? It seems pretty decent, doesn’t it?”

I wanted to share this overwhelming feeling, so I spoke to Miss Sora.

[Yes. That is correct. To the point that I, too, would like to live in this house.]

And I received the reply that seemed to contain the most emotion out of all our conversations so far.

If Miss Sora decided to take this house from me, she could probably take it any time she wanted.

Would that make her a house robber?

If Miss Sora had a body, I felt like I’d be kicked out naked and become a delicious meal for the wolves.

“Oh, right, the wolves.”

I picked up the notebook lying on the floor, the one where I’d written down things I had to do, and opened it to the very last page.

“Cross out bunker… put alcohol on the list of profitable product candidates…”

Memo, memo.

I scribbled diligently while ignoring reality, but in the end, I couldn’t avoid it.

The four-eyed wolves.

It was time to figure out the identity of those house-sized friends.

I slowly walked toward the entrance.

And after arriving at the entrance, I opened the bunker management system tab.

Could these words be any more beautiful?

I could now check the situation outside without even going out.

The bunker was god, and I was invincible.

And the four-eyed wolves I confirmed like that were currently…

Rolling around on the ground, their bodies pressed against the earth.

[Guys, what the hell are those things?]

Author: Head Mod

- They’re friends who suddenly showed up in front of my house.

They’re house-sized four-eyed wolves, y’know?

I was surprised and scared, so I figured they’d leave after a few days and just went about my business.

But when I looked outside thinking, “Did they finally leave?” they were rolling around like that..?

(Image of wolves lying on the ground and rolling around)

Does anyone know what these friends are?

(Comments)

- Whoa, those wolves are the size of a house ㄷㄷ

- What the hell are those? It’s a gif of wolves rolling around, so why are the trees around them flying everywhere?

└ I only noticed after reading this comment lol the trees are dynamic as hell

└ Lmaooo

- (ClipClopClipClop) They look like Quadravanes? So they actually exist ㄷㄷ

└ (Head Mod) Oh, are they dangerous?

└ (ClipClopClipClop) Dunno;; I just know that people who saw house-sized wolves with four eyes named them Quadravanes, and that name got passed down orally, yeah.

└ (Head Mod) Oh thanks thanks

- Am I the only one who thinks they look cool?

└ They look cool to me too ㄷㄷ Look at that awesome fur

└ Fur lol

└ Welcome, furry gallery user lolol

└ Beastman summoning technique! Answer me if you’re aliveㅠㅠ

- (BooksCanBeEatenToo) Those are Silvaraes. I think they were said to be guardians of the forest? Something like that.

└ The named user above says they’re Quadravanes though?

└ (BooksCanBeEatenToo) That name is also correct. That’s the name ordinary people gave them after freaking out when they saw wolves with four eyes, yeah.

└ (Head Mod) Anyway, then are they Silvaraes? Or Quadravanes?

└ (BooksCanBeEatenToo) Their scientific name is Silvaraes. The records say they’re good creatures. They live in forests and like places where a lot of mana gathers. They’re mystic beasts close to divine beasts, so as long as you don’t threaten them, they probably won’t harm humans, yeah.

└ (BooksCanBeEatenToo) Also, they don’t actually have four eyes. Mana gathers around patches of fur that look like eyes, making them seem like their eyes are glowing lol

└ BookEater’s way of talking came back lolol

└ Welcome, virgin archmage

└ (MasterAtHoldingBreathAgainstFire) Just how did you do it? For those children, rolling around like that is an act that signifies surrender. Just what are you?

└ Ugh, your mouth smells like rye, old-timer;;

└ (MasterAtHoldingBreathAgainstFire) Smells like rye? How very unpleasant. If you do not retract those words at once, you will pay for that frivolous behavior of yours.

└ I retract!

└ Instantly retracting lolol

“Wait, those things are mystic beasts?”

The wolves… the two doggos rolling around in my front yard were apparently mystic beasts.

“Well, yeah, looking at their size, they’re definitely not ordinary animals. They’re not, but…”

Once the two super-giant doggos started rolling around wildly on the ground, the scenery around them also began changing wildly.

It was truly a dynamic sight.

They said the kids were good, so I probably didn’t need a weapon for now…

I leaned the K-2C1 rifle I’d stealthily bought while waiting for comments after making the post against the shoe cabinet.

Honestly, I really, really didn’t want to go out.

We’d coexisted moderately for ten days without intruding on each other, so I just wanted to keep living without any changes.

But look at that dynamic scenery.

On top of that, for some reason, it felt like they were gradually getting closer to the bunker entrance.

It couldn’t be helped.

If I didn’t resolve this before the entrance got blocked, I might suffer the tragedy of being trapped inside and crushed to death when the building collapsed.

“They’re good kids. If I don’t threaten them, they won’t harm humans. Then what do I need right now?”

[Welcome to the gallery ‘Head Mod Exclusive Shop’!]

[Searching for pet food.]

What else? Food.

[Shopping Cart]

[If It’s Not This, I Don’t Want It, Woof! Premium Dog Food (15kg) - 400P 4 bags]

[Nutrition Snacks for Our Child! Premium Wet Canned Pet Food (85g, 24 cans) - 50P 2 packs]

[Assorted Beef (Imported, 800g) - 80P 4 packs]

[Large Plastic Cover - 5P 2 pieces]

I prepared food for the oversized doggos in my cart so I could take it out immediately as soon as I went outside.

Now it was time to calm down those kids who were logging every tree in the area.

I opened the entrance at the end of the bunker stairs very carefully.

Creak—

“Guys..? Can we talk for a second..?”

For the first time in ten days, I stepped outside the house.
