Chapter 19: Save You or Not?

4 min read866 words

“Tell me, should I save you, or shouldn’t I?”

Feng Jiuge chuckled softly. Instead of rescuing Yun Aotian from his predicament, she calmly sat down cross-legged on the spot, circulating her qi for one full cycle to sort out the chaotic true qi within her body.

The wounds on her back hadn’t hurt earlier, but now they were absolutely agonizing.

Right now, she was a weak woman without even the strength to truss a chicken. Just standing near that ten-thousand-year-old ice made her feel as though the cold energy would invade her five viscera and six bowels. Such a noble act as saving someone—better wait until a Lei Feng appeared on this otherworldly continent before speaking of that again.

Half an hour later, the densely packed, criss-crossing wounds on her body had stopped bleeding and scabbed over. With another half-month of proper rest and recuperation, she would probably be as lively and vigorous as before.

The prerequisite being that she didn’t engage in any strenuous exercise.

“I really hate my personality right now. I don’t like others owing me, and I don’t like owing others, either.”

Feng Jiuge lifted her eyes, meeting Yun Aotian’s gaze through the thick layer of ice. Those dark pupils glittering brilliantly beneath the moonlight ultimately made her lose her resolve.

Just this one last time. Save him, and the grievances between the two of them would be completely settled.

She raised both hands. Two balls of flame slowly rose and swayed in her palms. The bright firelight was beautiful, like eternal sparks that would never die.

Ancient martial arts—Blazing Flame Palm.

To use such an overbearing martial art while suffering such severe injuries—if that old monk were here, he would surely curse her for being tired of living.

Fine, tired of living it was. In any case, from the very beginning when she had recklessly run off to watch the excitement, she was destined for today’s tangled mess that couldn’t be cut away or sorted out.

“Go!”

With an angry shout, the bright flames in her hands suddenly swelled by four or five times. They grew wildly upon meeting the wind, as if oil had been poured on fire, spreading along the surface of the ice block until they surrounded the entire chunk.

“Sizzle sizzle sizzle sizzle…” The flames were like greedy beasts advancing toward their prey.

Warm-colored flames intertwined with frigid ice—a true merging of water and fire. Where the two met, the shifting colors were extraordinarily beautiful.

Suddenly, the ice block emitted a crisp cracking sound, as if it were about to explode. Squinting, Feng Jiuge saw the surface of the ice suddenly divided into small sections by blue light bursting from within. The cracks spread like capillaries across a body, fracturing every inch of it.

To hell with it!

Feng Jiuge couldn’t help cursing when she saw this turn of events.

If she had known he could get out on his own, she would have been crazy to waste so much effort saving him!

She hurriedly withdrew her hands and quickly jumped aside. However, while she was fast, Yun Aotian was even faster.

The ice block exploded with a bang. Shards of ice flew in all directions, about to crash down on her.

“Rise…” She attempted the starting form, but couldn’t execute it after trying for ages. She had withdrawn her hands too abruptly just now, causing the fierce aura of the Blazing Flame Palm to suddenly reverse flow, adding injury upon injury. She had no way to muster the strength to shatter the oncoming ice.

Hah, could it be that after being wise and mighty for two lifetimes, she would actually be killed by a chunk of ice?

Even as she thought this, her feet didn’t relax for an instant.

Just as she prepared to leap with all her strength, a dark figure swept past from midair. In an instant, the oncoming ice was pulverized into white dust.

The aura in the air instantly returned to tranquility.

Feng Jiuge lowered her head, looking at the man’s hand wrapped around her waist. The broad chest behind her was somewhat icy, still carrying the chill of the ice, yet leaning against it like this still gave her a moment of stability.

She only had one little life; staying alive was better than anything else.

“Are you alright?” Yun Aotian asked, his words stiff, yet still carrying a trace of concern.

Feng Jiuge shook her head and smiled. “I’ve always been hard to kill.”

Before her words finished, Yun Aotian swiftly turned her body around. His head moved close to her chest, burying itself between her breasts.

Feng Jiuge was startled by this sudden turn and immediately raised her hand to slap this dead pervert. But before the slap could land, Yun Aotian immediately raised his head, his expression completely serious.

“Your heart is too weak. Your injuries are severe.”
