016 Who Fears Who Little Dog

3 min read721 words

“Then let’s try!” Killing intent abruptly surged in Yun Aotian’s eyes, his thin lips pressed into a tight line, revealing the unyielding steel of an iron-blooded man.

“Hide behind me.” Carefully cautioning Feng Jiuge, he raised both hands. Those blue light spheres that had condensed to the size of basketballs all floated in mid-air—absolutely things that could be considered even more beautiful than the aurora.

Someone taking the brunt for her—wasn’t that great?

Feng Jiuge didn’t argue upon hearing this. Her feet moved slightly as she quickly dodged behind Yun Aotian, holding Zhuhun in front of her chest, coldly surveying the nine black-clad figures surrounding them.

Those sinister black cloaks churned madly in mid-air along with the gales of qi. Nine masses of purple energy surged forth like suddenly raging waves, riding the surging momentum of towering billows.

Ten fingers closed together before their chests, purple energy churning in their hands.

The movements of the nine black-clad figures were astonishingly uniform. Purple halos gradually expanded from their palms, and in moments had isolated this patch of land from the outside into two separate worlds.

“Nine-Nine Return-to-One Heavenly Origin Formation!”

Yun Aotian’s sharp gaze grew even more severe. Both hands shot out in a wild sweeping motion, veins bulging on his arms, while a thin layer of frost gradually formed upon his tightly furrowed brows. And that silvery-white color was slowly extending to his neck, spreading to his chest…

Around him, the floating blue light spheres carried silvery-white sparks. With a wave of his arms, they desperately smashed against the purple sphere enveloping them, as if seeking some breakthrough point.

Blue and purple halos collided, and clashing sounds rang by their ears.

Under that powerful pressure, Yun Aotian’s offensive was like an ant confronting the starry sky. Those blue light spheres hopelessly hammered and struggled against the invisible purple walls, fighting with all their might, yet couldn’t budge that qi shield in the slightest.

“Abandon your pointless struggling. By His Majesty’s holy decree, as long as you submit to His Majesty, the Cloud Heaven Summit will still be yours!” The voice of one of the black-clad figures opposite was low and sinister, faintly carrying a trace of inexplicable excitement.

At the same time, the aura around them intensified, as if countless boulders weighing thousands of *jun* were pressing toward the center, carrying the absolute power to crush everything.

Even though Feng Jiuge was wrapped within Yun Aotian’s blue qi shield, she could still clearly feel the pressure bearing down from all around. She used Zhuhun to block half the pressure from the front, but the remaining half was enough to tear and deform her.

No! If this continued, she would definitely accompany this man in turning to dust and vanishing into smoke!

She, Feng Jiuge, treasured her life immensely. She had finally regained a new lease on life—she couldn’t just lose it for no reason!

Sheathing her blade and turning around, she raised both palms. A white aura circulated within Feng Jiuge’s palms, then suffused her entire body. And the purple energy behind her, sharp as blades, surged toward her back without obstruction.

Hiss—it hurt!

Teeth clenched, eyes forced red by the crisis, she thrust both palms out, pressing them against Yun Aotian’s back and stacking her power onto his.

Yun Aotian was stunned.

He had thought she was circulating her power to launch a sneak attack on him…

He was currently injured. Even exerting all his strength, he still couldn’t stop the suppression of the Nine-Nine Return-to-One Heavenly Origin Formation, let alone spare attention to deal with anything else. If she struck at him now, he would definitely lose his life here.

Yet the power continuously flowing into his body from behind was like a warm current, soaking through his entire being.

She was helping him!

He could absolutely imagine her appearance right now, even with his back to her. A body of flesh and blood meeting a storm of blades—the sound of skin being torn reached his ears so clearly amidst the deafening thunder all around.

“Don’t be afraid.”

Like a soft-spoken comfort, yet only for an instant, as fleeting as an illusion that flashed through the air.

Feng Jiuge actually managed to curl her blood-dripping lips in such a situation, shooting back a retort: “Whoever’s afraid is a puppy.”
