Chapter 7

Seongna, Are You Insane?

9 min read2,207 words

For as long as I could remember, people around me often told me I lived without any kind of plan.

A hopeless life where I simply entrusted myself to whatever waves came, with no grand goals and no clear vision.

It was a life with an obviously unimpressive future already set in stone, but it wasn’t as if there had been an adult around to set me straight.

My parents passed away before I even came to understand the world, and Pastor Kim, who raised me until I became an adult, had his hands full just running the church.

I was grateful enough that I’d managed to grow up healthy, without a single illness, so I never had any particular intention of resenting the world or anyone in it.

No, is it a bit ambiguous to call myself healthy now?

The flesh that had gone beyond plump and into jiggling was nowhere to be seen, and now only scrawny arms and legs remained.

There were still areas with some flesh on them, I suppose, but well, could you really call this fat?

In exchange for taking away the fat that had bordered on obesity and my joystick, was giving me two lumps of flesh on my chest a gain or a loss?

A more thorough calculation would be necessary to determine the profit and loss, but for now, it felt like a loss.

This thing might look nice, but it’s inconvenient in a lot of ways.

Anyway.

In any case, I was the type who always lived with the phrase “having no plan is the plan” on my lips.

ㄴㄴI’ll do it

ㄴㄴI’m absolutely doing it

That was exactly why I accepted Brother Eather’s proposal.

It wasn’t as if I could think of any other way to cover the rent, and the ways I could make money right away were limited.

Most of all, they were saying they’d pay me just to talk about what I knew. Was there any reason to refuse?

Besides, if the topic was the One-Handed Sword Saintess... if anything, I welcomed it.

Because the foolish Ias users had yet to understand the true worth of the One-Handed Sword Saintess.

ㄴㄴ(Eather) Then please come here: http://di***rd.c*m/i***te/Eather

Pastor Kim always told me that the more knowledgeable one was, the more one had a duty to enlighten the ignorant.

That having much knowledge meant bearing the responsibility to teach those who did not know.

However, he said one must not harbor feelings of superiority or pity in that process.

Only when those ahead led those behind with a pure heart could everyone finally move forward together.

I didn’t understand exactly what that meant, but.

[Streamer Eather Official Discord]

Perhaps it meant I should inform others of the greatness of the One-Handed Sword Saintess.

Isn’t that right, Pastor?

ㄴㄴI’ll be right there

After posting the Discord address on the Apocalypse Gallery and immediately deleting it, Eather was now seized by a small sense of regret.

Though there were some normal users among them, Ias users’ perception of Apocalypse users was still far from good.

They even called those who enjoyed Apocalypse content by the derogatory term “jongjeonggong.”

“Haa... No matter what, was approaching them like this a bit much...?”

For that reason, Eather, who had once been an Apocalypse demon himself, was extremely reluctant to mention his past.

Going directly to the Apocalypse Gallery and meeting Seongna like this was, for Eather, quite a big gamble.

“No... It’s not like I had any other way to contact him in the first place...”

After finishing the Vermouth raid, Seongna ran a few more raids and then immediately turned off the game.

Since Eather had no separate contact information and no means of contacting Seongna, the Apocalypse Gallery had been the only way he could approach him.

By the way, was that anonymous user earlier really Seongna?

White Dragon Pavilion had verified that it was Seongna, but what if it wasn’t?

[Bot]

[SaintessNice has landed in the channel!]

He had been worried that he might have wasted his time, but fortunately, the one who came to Discord was Seongna.

“Oh, he’s here.”

Of course, there was still a need to confirm whether that was truly Seongna or not.

He still couldn’t completely rule out the possibility of impersonation.

[Eather: Are you Seongna?]

[SaintessNice: Yes]

[Eather: Then could you verify your identity, by any chance?]

[SaintessNice: One moment]

[SaintessNice: screenshot.jpg]

[Eather: Ah, confirmed]

Fortunately enough, that user really was Seongna himself.

[Eather: Um... would you be all right with a quick call?]

This wasn’t just a simple guest invitation.

Since they had already agreed on revenue sharing, this was, in the end, business.

It wasn’t something to gloss over with a few lines of chat, so Eather decided to make more detailed arrangements through a private call with Seongna.

[SaintessNice: Hmm... yes]

[Eather: Then I’ll give you permission for a moment, so please come to the EatherCollab1 channel.]

-Ding

After entering the voice channel first, Eather calmly reviewed the proposal he needed to convey before speaking with Seongna.

No matter how he thought about it, SaintessNice was a treasure chest in Eather’s eyes.

A treasure chest nobody had even thought to open, abandoned after being shoved to the very bottom.

Though it was hidden beneath the shadows of RMT farming, trolling, terrorism, spam, and being a malicious registered user, inside it was still a blue ocean full of opportunities and potential.

‘No, at that point, is it even on the level of a shadow...?’

As he recalled the malicious things Seongna had done in the Apocalypse Gallery in the past, Eather briefly wondered if he might be walking down the wrong path.

-Ding

“Ah, hello, Seongna. You can hear me, right?”

Eather was not so indecisive a person that he would take back a step he had already taken.

No take-backs once the card was laid down—that was one of his mottos.

“...Seongna? Can you not hear me, by any chance?”

Even after entering the voice channel, Seongna’s voice did not come through.

[SaintessNice: Ah, hello]

[SaintessNice: I can hear you well]

Instead, Seongna kept the microphone muted and continued through chat.

This much was within Eather’s expectations.

[SaintessNice: Is it okay if I keep my mic off and use chat?]

“Yes, of course. No problem.”

People like Seongna, who caused trouble online, tended to avoid elements that could reveal their identity, such as their voice.

“First, let’s coordinate the schedule. Is there a day within the next week that works for you?”

[SaintessNice: I’m fine anytime]

“That’s good news. Then shall we set it for this Saturday?”

[SaintessNice: Yes]

The date was set, and now it was time to design the content.

The main focus would, of course, be SaintessNice’s one-handed sword setup, but there would also be no small number of viewers curious about Seongna as a person.

Before the actual stream, they had to make sure to go over this part clearly.

“The broadcast will mainly focus on your One-Handed Sword Saintess setup, but would it be okay if I asked a few personal questions while we proceed?”

[SaintessNice: As long as they aren’t super unreasonable questions, I don’t mind]

[SaintessNice: Like, what color are your panties today, or something like that?]

“Haha, as if I would ever ask that.”

[SaintessNice: I feel like you would]

“I’m not that kind of person...”

Fortunately, Seongna himself did not seem to mind either way.

“Then shall we try writing a script together?”

[SaintessNice: A script?]

“Yes, a script. If we go completely impromptu, I feel like you might end up in a difficult position.”

Seongna was, after all, not a broadcaster, but an ordinary person.

Because of that, it was hard to expect this broadcast to proceed smoothly.

[SaintessNice: That’s true too]

“So we prepare a script in advance and do the broadcast with that. It’ll be easier if you think of it like filming.”

If a live broadcast proved too difficult, recording a video and uploading it only to YouTube was not a bad option either.

But Eather’s YouTube had yet to grow beyond the level of a small channel, and in the end, the thing with immediate impact was a live broadcast.

“Then, could you explain to me what sort of structure the One-Handed Sword Saintess build is made of?”

[SaintessNice: Sure]

He would have Seongna explain the structure of the One-Handed Sword Saintess build, write a script, and then reveal it on stream.

If that happened, Seongna’s image would change from a malicious RMT farmer into the developer of a minor build and a hidden expert, and he would receive an enormous amount of attention.

And Eather would monopolize that attention on his broadcast.

It was undoubtedly a truly perfect plan.

[SaintessNice: I’ll teach you what the One-Handed Sword Saintess is]

And so, the One-Handed Sword Saintess build explained by the Saintess was—

[SaintessNice: —that’s how you do it. Simpler than it looks, right?]

“Um, Seongna.”

[SaintessNice: Yes?]

“Are you insane, by any chance?”

It was a deranged setup that made curses come out on their own.

ㅡㅡㅡㅡ

The day I was scheduled to appear on Brother Eather’s stream.

“Munch, munch...”

I had come to the same PC café as last time and was leisurely eating snacks.

After all, until the stream started and Brother Eather called me in, there wasn’t really anything for me to do.

As expected, lurking on the Ias Gallery while eating snacks was an enjoyable thing.

[Title: They say Seongna is appearing on Eather’s stream??]

Guess we’ll finally find out why he uses this shitty one-handed sword

ㄴFor real?

ㄴWow, Seongna’s going on stream?

ㄴㄴ(OP) That’s what they said

ㄴWhy is Eather bringing someone like that on as a guest? He said he wanted to go mainstream;;

ㄴㄴDidn’t Seongna ask him? They’re both former jongjeonggong

The hottest potato on the Ias Gallery right now was, naturally, “SaintessNice.”

People curious about my one-handed sword build, and people curious about me as a person.

The Ias Gallery was currently full of those two types of people.

“Mmm... Ah, I already finished it.”

[Title: I can already imagine this bastard Seongna’s voice lol]

Bet he’ll reek of fake-cool edgelord vibes

You can tell just from how he got called out on the gallery, had a mental breakdown, rushed Mythic, and blew up

Then he shamefully ran off to the army lolololol

Just the JOAT, please get lost already

ㄴUpvoted

Of course, that curiosity was by no means positive.

Rather than “I wonder what kind of person he is,” it was more like, “I wonder what kind of bastard he is.”

If I did what my heart wanted, I would have ridden that support and spammed the gallery, but since the broadcast was right around the corner, I decided to hold back.

[Eather: I turned on the stream now. Keep my stream open, and when I say so, enter the channel.]

“Oh.”

Brother Eather had turned on the stream just in time.

When I entered the stream right away, viewers began flooding in all at once.

“Ten thousand? Usually, about three thousand people watch.”

Was I that famous?

I might develop an inflated sense of self-consciousness, you know?

-Is this the place that invited an RMT-farming troll bitch as a guest?

“Ooh.”

Brother Eather’s stream was already coming in quite spicy from the very first chat.

Apparently, these people were displeased that I, the symbol of RMT farming, had been brought in as a guest.

-You’re accepting a piece-of-shit troll malicious user as a guest? Eather, are you insane?

-Na

-Na

-rak

-Na

-Stop spamming, you bastards

-Eather, can’t you just cut Seongna off even now...

As if it was not merely one person’s opinion, the chat window was filled with resentment.

It was enough to make one worry whether a normal broadcast could even be carried out.

[“Ah, hello. This is Eather.”]

Of course, Brother Eather’s experience was not so shallow that it would be severed by something like this.

[“It seems everyone is reacting this way because I’ve brought on a rather controversial guest, but for now, please hear me out first.”]

-The spam disappeared instantly lol

-Follower chat nice

-They came in from the gallery link

[“First of all, the reason I invited Seongna is because I judged the One-Handed Sword Saintess build to be usable. Those of you who watched my stream a few days ago should all know that.”]

-That was sick back then

-Eight Perga clears with a Saintess lolololol

-In my opinion, after today, there’ll be a ton of One-Handed Sword Saintesses

[“If you all trust Eather as an Ias user, then please listen to this explanation just once.”]

Was this what they meant by a streamer with years of experience? Even though he was a broadcaster who had suddenly succeeded, his ability to keep things moving was extraordinary.

“Your food is ready.”

“Ah, please put it here.”

-Slurp...

[“Then, without further ado, I’ll invite him in right away. SaintessNice, please come in.”]

“Mmmp... gulp...”

What, he’s calling me in faster than I expected.

My ramen... is going to get soggy.

-Ding

What a shame.
