Chapter 62

Chapter 62

6 min read1,448 words

People say On Ijo went to the 100th floor alone to save his younger brother, that On Jurim disobeyed orders and came back down—there’s a lot of talk, but the full details were never revealed.

He absolutely refuses to say why he came down from the 99th floor, but something definitely happened between him and On Ijo.

Anyway, between him not going to the 100th floor and surviving alone, and the interviews he gave after coming down being fucking, fucking... yeah, On Jurim got a shit-ton of hate. Of course, he has plenty of defenders too.

-> If you’re curious about the interviews, link

Even On Jurim, whose personality was that busted, couldn’t do a thing against On Ijo.

On Ijo was his handler.

Now that On Ijo’s gone, the reins are off.

Anyway, with On Ijo, Humanity’s Number One, and On Jurim, a first-generation survivor, the Korean hunter industry kept riding an upward trend~

3-line summary

- Author: Thank you for the answer. But why is the first generation the real deal? The second-generation hunters are more famous.

Of course, you idiot. Between soldiers and celebrities, who do you think is more famous? Back then, ordinary people didn’t even know what hunters did inside the Tower. All they did after clearing it was come out and give interviews, so even if they got broadcast, it was just training footage at best? And they didn’t show much of that either, saying it was classified lol

FR, back then people’s sense of crisis was on the level of, “The glaciers are melting and polar bears are dying, but sea levels won’t rise for another five years.”

Articles about clearing the 60th floor of the Tower got buried, while a petition to execute an adulterous celebrity couple hit 600,000 signatures,,,

That still happens now..

Don’t Look Up came out back then too, and even that movie got buried. And even that was treated like modern art lol

There are still tons of morons who think the Tower is an American conspiracy.

Probably overlaps with the flat-earthers lol

[Title: Why does On Jurim get hate?]

Why does On Jurim have so many antis?

I’m curious

[Answer]

Author, this is why.

Throughout the entire question, Jurim looked bored from start to finish.

Tapping his long fingers against his thigh, he raised the corner of his mouth the moment the question ended.

He only tilted his head slightly to the side, then pointed upward with one finger.

The video ended with the bewildered reporter’s face caught on camera and the ceaseless sound of shutters going click! click! click!

- Questioner, don’t misunderstand. The reporters deliberately exaggerated it more to farm views. And if you read the full transcripts, a lot of the nuance is different. Most of it is malicious editing.

- On Jurim was nice in private, though…….

- Bringing up a video from five years ago just to open a hatefest. No matter how much you bash him, On Jurim is Humanity’s Number One, a legend at his actual job.

Fangirl meetup, huh? Your precious Jurim-oppa really does have a busted personality, but here you are defending him lol

As expected, On Jurim is hot. Drives both fans and antis insane.

Look at these comments piling up good and thick >> buuurp~

But he’s a patriotic warrior, agreed?

[Title: Is On Jurim’s family Doan?]

[(Investigative Journal ON Preview) The secret deal of a construction-company father who sent both sons into the Tower]

Is the place shown here On Jurim’s family?

Are the allegations of preferential treatment true too?

[Answer]

Yes.

On Jurim’s family is Doan Construction, and all the allegations of preferential treatment are true.

To add a bit of explanation... After the Great Cataclysm appeared and all sorts of things got destroyed and broken, there was an unprecedented boom in the construction industry.

But the truth is, Doan overextended itself expanding the company back then and nearly went under in a big way. According to people involved, they were practically on the verge of bankruptcy, but then funds suddenly came through and they survived.

And where did that money come from? The Korean government.

According to Investigative Journal ON’s reporting at the time, the government support that went into Doan back then was practically a bombardment.

First of all, almost every construction project ordered by the state went to Doan. At that time, because of the Great Cataclysm, the scale of construction contracts was seriously absurd. Doan swallowed all of it.

On top of that, regulations were lifted, permits were issued... If you look at interviews with people involved back then, it was practically accepted wisdom that “if Doan’s name is on it, even things that shouldn’t be allowed become allowed.”

No matter how much his sons brought honor to the nation outside, Korea wasn’t a developing country anymore, and it wasn’t the era where you poured drinks for the president and got roads built and dams constructed, was it?

It’s not like only On Ijo and On Jurim went into the Tower and came back out.

When On Suhyeong’s family was becoming a chaebol back then, other bereaved families received medals and pensions. It’s not like there have only been one or two patriotic martyrs in our history, so treating only Doan specially wasn’t fair or common sense.

After this aired, for a while every media outlet was noisy with attacks on Chairman On, saying he sold his sons to build his business.

Strangely, though, the political world stayed quiet. Even the opposition party only pretended to criticize him moderately and left it at that.

It was a family whose two sons had done all sorts of things, and the eldest had even accomplished something huge, so public opinion must have been favorable, right? Everyone was making a fuss about how the Korean On Ijo saved the world. Maybe they ran some polls and decided it wasn’t worth it. I think that’s why it just got swept under the rug.

Anyway, it’s a fact that government support played a huge role in Doan going from a decent mid-sized construction firm to a major corporation.

Downvote this recurring post

If On Ijo had gone to America, he would’ve gotten even more than he did in Korea, yeah?

No way to know. Back then, clearing the Tower was the main thing, and circumstances were different from now.

It’s because of brats like this that our tax money leaks away,, sigh..

“But he’s a patriotic warrior……?”

As Geuru diligently combed through Knowledge iN, Geuru read the comments one by one.

Countless pieces of information floated around.

‘Humanity’s Number One…….’

The guild master’s older brother was a man with a very swaggy-sounding nickname.

He must have been Jurim’s “comrade” that Yun Seojun had explained before.

‘So he was his brother.’

Jurim must have been terribly, terribly sad.

But people harshly criticized him.

‘The guild master just never went to kindergarten, so he’s a little lacking in manners…….’

There were as many videos as stars of Jurim laughing at and mocking the people who threw sharp questions at him, and the comments were hard to look at.

Reading a comment that said On Ijo should have lived instead of On Jurim, Geuru felt upset and closed YouTube.

What Geuru understood was that the guild master’s family were all incredible people, patriotic warriors, and had a sad past.

Geuru reopened the Knowledge iN window from last. It was a discussion about the suspicions of preferential treatment for Doan Group.

‘Is the chairman a bad person?’

Was it something he shouldn’t have done, receiving help from the country when his company was struggling? What did that have to do with the guild master and the guild master’s older brother?

On the day Geuru had gone to the restaurant with the chairman, Geuru suggested they go into the house together and greet the guild master.

But Suhyeong gently refused.

“Jurim won’t want to see me.”
