On Jurim lightly waved his hand as he gave the interview. Oddly, the black leather glove worn only on his left hand left a strong impression.
The interviewer too seemed conscious of the glove and glanced toward it.
As if drawing the interviewer’s gaze back, Jurim tapped the armrest with his gloved hand.
When the interviewer met his eyes again, Jurim slightly raised the corner of his lips with languid eyes.
The interviewer, seemingly entranced, couldn’t tear his eyes away for a moment before hurriedly opening his mouth.
It was a rather provocative question.
The caregivers were engrossed in the sensational interview, but Geuru alone failed to grasp the situation and simply watched the screen with a blank expression.
On Jurim remained as composed as ever.
Freedom? Protection? Perking up her ears, Geuru knelt down properly in front of the TV.
“Oh my, Geuru. You need to step back. You’ll get sucked in.”
“Yethh—”
Geuru scooted her bottom back and retreated a little.
Even faced with the interviewer’s bold question, Jurim answered nonchalantly.
Jurim shrugged.
As he finished by wrapping the provocative question in a tissue and tossing it into the trash can, the interviewer’s mouth moved as if at a loss for words.
The caregivers laughed, remarking that a proper face, proper strength, and a proper tongue all resided in him.
Most would have been surprised by Jurim’s adept handling of the interviewer’s question, but the part that stuck in Geuru’s mind was a bit different.
Hyeonak protects its guild members and respects freedom—that very part.
Geuru knew a little about what a guild was. It was like a company that Hunters belong to.
She had heard that if you belong to a guild, they take care of matters that are difficult to handle alone.
If so, what about a bank account? If she joined a guild, could they make one for her?
What if she became a member of Hyeonak, received the guild’s protection, and freely conducted business?
All of a sudden, the image of On Jurim creating a bank account for her popped into Geuru’s head.
With that money, Geuru found her mom and dad, cleared quests, and lived happily with her family as the strongest Hunter.
END.
Geuru closed her gaping mouth.
She needed to focus. Because this was a question she desperately wanted answered right now.
Humming low in his throat, Jurim draped his arm over the chair’s armrest and rested his chin on his hand.
The interviewer was briefly at a loss for words.
Geuru was likewise speechless, gaping once more.
As if delivering a finishing blow to the interviewer who seemed to be waiting for the rest of the answer, Jurim spoke.
He even went so far as to rise from his seat and ask, “May I go now?”
When the interviewer asked as if pleading, “Can’t you answer a little more?”, Jurim sat back down with a weary expression.
The interviewer smiled bitterly with an expression that said this bastard was playing with people from the top of their heads.
Arms crossed, he seemed to think of something before abruptly spitting out a word.
Saying, “That’s all,” Jurim stood up abruptly.
The interviewer began to wrap things up in a daze. The screen quickly switched, and the scene changed to Hyeonak’s high-rise building.
The caregivers murmured among themselves.
“That just means he won’t accept anyone now.”
“Even on a broadcast, he’s overflowing with nerve.”
“A proper face, proper strength, proper tongue, and an improper personality……”
Just then, Geuru scurried over to a caregiver and clung to her.
“Tweacher! Geuru has a qweshion!”
Ah, how cute. She pinched Geuru’s adorable cheek and asked back.
“What is our pretty Geuru curious about?”
“How do you get to dat pwace?”
“Hmm?”
The child’s hand was pointing at the high-rise building where Hyeonak was located.
Tell me! Tell me! Sensing the sincerity in her sparkling eyes, the caregiver smiled.
Given On Jurim’s flashy appearance, it wasn’t strange for a child to take a liking to him.
“That’s a place you have to take a bus for twenty minutes to get to.”
“Pwease mark it here.”
Geuru opened the map app on her kids’ phone.
“On the map?”
Though flustered by the earnest request, she quite willingly marked the address on the map app.
She probably thought it was simply an age where children wanted to know everything. In any case, if they happened to pass by and get an autograph, it would be a good thing.
However, Geuru’s goal was drastically different from what she had in mind.
‘Geuru’s an S-Rank too!’
A Hunter’s rank is determined after the Awakener Center comprehensively judges stats, skills, and so on.
However, if there is one exception, it is the skill’s rank.
If one possesses even a single Legend skill, they are judged as S-Rank regardless of overall ability.
And Geuru’s skill was Legend grade. She was a true S-Rank.
*
Beep-beep-beep, beep-beep-beep-beep.
When the crosswalk signal sounded, Geuru raised her hand high.
It was the power of safety education tirelessly drilled into her at kindergarten.
As Geuru crossed the crosswalk with her hand raised, small bursts of laughter broke out around her.
“So cute.”
“Is she a model? She’s really pretty.”
Even having heard such compliments hundreds of times, Geuru touched her flushed cheeks and walked with quick steps.
The destination was a single building towering among the forest of skyscrapers.
It was the Hyeonak Guild building.
Geuru went round and round the huge revolving door and stood in the lobby.
Employees entering the company all swiped their cards at the access gate. Steel bars blocked the lower part of the gate, and they only opened the entrance when a card was swiped.
So you can’t get in without one. As it happened, Geuru had something similar.
Rummaging through her bag, she pulled out a card.
‘Bus card!’
The bus card made for field trips had proven useful in many ways.
Geuru toddled up to the access gate, stood on her tiptoes, and swiped the bus card.
Beep—
With a clack, the steel bar firmly stopped.
“Huh?”
Why isn’t it working? As she tilted her head in confusion, a long shadow draped over her head.
“Did your parents send you on an errand?”
A security guard stood there. Geuru’s eyes darted around.
“Ah… I…”
*
‘Kicked out!’
The moment they heard she wasn’t a company employee’s family member, they didn’t seem interested in hearing anything else.
Geuru watched the inside of the revolving door cautiously from afar.
Since she’d been kicked out right away, they wouldn’t let her in again even if she went back.
“Hmm…”
Geuru fell into thought for a moment, then went round the revolving door again and entered the lobby. The two security guards were lingering near the entrance.
With a wide grin, Geuru pulled out a chick toy from her bag.
[Creepy Laughing Chick Toy (F)]
Automatically detects targets and laughs creepily in front of them. Targets who hear the laughter have a very low probability of falling into panic for 1 second.
‘Go!’
Geuru deployed the chick toy.
