Chapter 75 First Battle (11)

“Professor Wang asked me to tell you that the Starving Ghost can invade reality through that ‘nonexistent street’ within your ghost domain. Your Ghost Eye can do the same.”

The crimson Ghost Eye on his forehead slowly turned. Yang Jian was thinking.

Wang Xiaoming’s conjecture might be feasible. The existence of evil ghosts was itself a violation of logic and common sense. Back in Dachang City, the Starving Ghost had already demonstrated this kind of reverse invasion through a ghost domain once before.

If he used his ghost domain to forcefully invade that black-fire puzzle piece, perhaps he could reproduce the situation from Dachang City, when the Starving Ghost invaded the Ghost Eye’s ghost domain.

But an evil ghost that required an entire ship to seal off—if the invasion failed, he might be killed instantly...

Li Jun walked toward the patch of black fire and said, “I’ll cooperate with you. Just like that time in the Ghost Painting. Through the collision of two supernatural powers, we’ll produce a new kind of ghost domain.”

Yang Jian looked at Li Jun and said, “The process by which any ghost controller controls the supernatural can’t be replicated, let alone a collision between two completely different supernatural powers. To be honest, even I can’t be sure whether the situation from last time will happen again.”

“The supernatural has always been like this, hasn’t it?”

No expression could be seen on Li Jun’s face. He turned to look at Yang Jian and continued:

“There’s nothing to hesitate over. Things depend on human effort. If it can’t be done the first time, then we’ll try a second time. If the second time still doesn’t work, then we’ll keep going for a third. Before this body of mine finishes burning, what I can do is defend my country. Yang Jian, you see things more clearly than I do. I think you should understand what I mean.”

Yang Jian was slightly startled. For a ghost controller of Li Jun’s level, forget emotions—even expressions were pitifully rare. Yet he had always held fast to that obsession in his heart. That was something even Yang Jian could not do.

“I don’t really care either way. Since you’ve already decided, let’s begin.”

The two of them walked deeper into the wreckage of the rocket’s nose.

Dense red light flickered unsteadily, as if it might collapse at any moment. Within the red light was a cluster of black flames burning quietly, completely unaffected by the ghost domain. Even the crimson color was being burned to the point of nearly dispersing.

“Li Jun.”

As Yang Jian’s cold voice sounded, the crimson ghost domain contracted sharply like a receding tide. What followed was a sheet of deep green flames blooming at the center.

At the instant the two ghost domains collided, a streak of golden light flashed past as if tearing through space.

Immediately after, like a blazing sun rising, dazzling golden light erupted like a raging tide.

The next moment, the entire world was instantly illuminated. The piercing gold swelled wildly, and everything was enveloped in a golden-yellow radiance.

A naked sensation of burning rushed over them together with the golden light.

Even though this ghost domain was not deliberately targeting everyone, they could still faintly feel the evil ghosts they controlled showing signs of being suppressed.

At this moment, the difference in terror levels between supernatural powers was being manifested in concrete form.

The product of a supernatural collision, an alternative fusion where ghost domains intersected—two puzzle pieces had been crudely stitched together, forming an unknown state.

It could also be said that two completely different evil ghost puzzle pieces, through Yang Jian and Li Jun’s development, had formed an alternative kind of fusion.

During the loss-of-control incident in Dajing City, the two of them had once briefly used the fused ghost domain to suppress the Ghost Painting.

But this state could not last long. When facing evil ghosts, there were far too many unknowns. No one had ever done this before. No one knew what would happen to the fused ghost domain in the next second.

Yang Jian’s voice rang out within the golden light.

“I’m going to begin.”

The golden flames slowly spread toward the cold black fire. Even within this scorching golden light, the black flames still burned quietly, without the slightest change.

But the instant the two flames touched, the entire world abruptly distorted.

The surrounding scene was suddenly torn apart, rapidly retreating backward like a roll of film being rewound at high speed, blurred and distorted.

No, it was not the scene that was retreating. They were accelerating.

They were clearly standing in place without making any movement, without any driving force at all, yet everyone was accelerating forward.

At this moment, the entire world was challenging the limits of everyone’s visual senses, madly rushing toward them.

The acceleration grew faster and faster. The surrounding space stretched and warped, colors being dragged across their field of vision into countless twisted bands of light, as if forcibly stripped away from reality by some unknown rule.

Their speed began to become uncontrollable.

The bands of light grew thinner and denser, until they turned into pure, fine lines of color.

Yet what was strange was that everyone could not feel even the slightest wind pressure, as if they were still standing in place.

Their consciousness was almost unable to keep up with their bodies as they were carried toward some unknown place.

The colors around them were still retreating madly. Their speed was still climbing, reaching an incomprehensible extreme.

Then, everything froze abruptly.

There was no sound at all. The surrounding environment appeared without warning.

A silent space. Above them was only vast emptiness and blackness; beneath their feet was a thick layer of pale dust.

Behind them, in the pitch-blackness of space, hung a blue planet.

That was Earth.

Wang Chaling raised his wristwatch and checked the time.

“Simply unbelievable. We arrived in an instant...”

A faint, almost nonexistent stench of corpses suddenly appeared in the air. Wang Chaling’s expression changed. This was the moon. How could there be a smell here?

“Everyone, be careful!”

Inside the conference room, Liu San’s gaze slowly swept across his surroundings.

The familiar environment of headquarters. Wang Xiaoming was talking about the great fire overseas, Shen Liang was distributing intelligence on the King Organization, and Cao Yanhua was saying a whole pile of irrelevant things.

A powerful sense of déjà vu struck him. It was as if he had been here before, sitting here just like today. Even the positions of everyone present had not changed in the slightest.

“Something’s wrong.”

Liu San observed the surrounding environment and the people seated there.

He had suddenly appeared at headquarters without any cause or process, just sitting here so abruptly. The feeling was like being in a dream, but he had not dreamed in a very long time.

“How did I get here...”

Liu San stood up. The people around him did not seem to notice him at all, and were still repeating the things Liu San had experienced before.

Suddenly, Liu San’s gaze locked onto the corner of the conference room. A dog was quietly lying there.

That’s right, it was a dog. Its black fur was hidden in the shadows, its eyes dead and lightless, staring motionlessly at everyone.

“A dog? What kind of joke is this...”

Liu San’s wax-yellow face grew increasingly grave. He had already confirmed that he had been attacked, and it was the type he was least skilled at dealing with: an attack on consciousness.

His fingertips trembled slightly. Sheets of cold yellow paper silently appeared, drifting gently. A pitch-black finger appeared beneath the yellow paper, and a faint stench of corpses quickly spread through the air.

The next moment, the yellow paper suddenly shot toward Wang Xiaoming...
