My Own Skill Book: Chapter 045
Chapter 45
[Transformation].
A skill created by combining ‘Copy’ and ‘Change,’ its effect was transforming into a person one had seen before.
I put one of the reporters to sleep with the [Hypnosis] skill, then borrowed their clothes, headphones, hat, and so on.
Inside the Overlord Guild’s tent, every time I shook hands, I created bookmarks in my palm and immediately had the Overlord Guild’s Hunters absorb them. Since they were absorbed the moment they touched the body, they wouldn’t have felt a thing.
‘I already know about Jeong Cheonyeol, so that’s fine, but it bothers me that I couldn’t make contact with one person…….’
But there wasn’t enough time to go back and pull a trick now.
The match was in ten minutes. I had to formulate a strategy based on the stats and skill information I had gleaned using the bookmark function.
I put my heads together with everyone and began discussing the strategy.
***
In the center of the massive crater.
Seven Hunters from the Overlord Guild and seven Hunters from the Anti-Overlord Alliance stood facing each other.
Im Jiyeon, holding a long staff, checked the faces of the opposing team.
This was to confirm whether the broadcasting station staff member(?) who had entered the tent earlier was among them.
‘Just as the profiles I checked in advance. No changes.’
She took a step forward.
“If everyone is incapacitated or the captain forfeits the match, it’s a loss. You know that, right?”
A yellow string indicating she was the captain was tied around Im Jiyeon’s wrist.
“Of course.”
Hong Jigwang, guild leader of Evergreen, stepped forward and answered. A yellow string was tied around his wrist as well, just like Im Jiyeon’s.
“Then let’s begin.”
She looked outside the crater and shook her staff, and someone fired a signal flare into the air.
Boom.
With the sound, the match commenced.
On the Overlord Guild’s side, a man holding a huge square shield large enough to cover his entire body used a skill the instant the match started.
‘Bond of Blood!’
A semi-transparent red thread emerged from him and linked to his teammates.
‘Soul of Iron!’
The Hunter holding a short staff stuck close to the shield-bearing Hunter and used a skill. White light enveloped the shield man’s body.
“Kuhaha!”
Kim Woojin, who had rushed at the Anti-Overlord Alliance Hunters first, swung his sword toward Hong Jigwang.
Hong Jigwang deflected the sword with his spear and immediately targeted Kim Woojin’s body.
‘!?’
Hong Jigwang’s eyes widened.
Kim Woojin had taken the spear with his body without backing down in the slightest.
“Kuk!”
Even though the spear had pierced his body, Kim Woojin showed no sign of pain.
He swung his sword once more.
“Urk!”
To avoid the sword aiming for his throat right in front of him, Hong Jigwang was forced to retreat.
The other two melee DPS of the Overlord Guild were also attacking aggressively as if they feared no injury.
Even as they were wounded by the Anti-Overlord Alliance’s counterattacks, they did not falter in the slightest. Moreover, their wounds disappeared in an instant for some reason.
Ignoring all conventional methods of attack and defense, the Overlord Guild’s melee DPS bared nothing but sharp fangs, forcing the Anti-Overlord Alliance Hunters to do nothing but defend.
The Overlord Guild team’s suicidal attacks.
This was made possible by the combination combo of tanker Sin Chusim and healer-cum-buffer An Donghyeon.
Sin Chusim’s ‘Bond of Blood’ was a skill that took damage dealt to team members in his place, and An Donghyeon’s ‘Soul of Iron’ was a buff skill that reduced all damage the target received by forty percent.
While the melee DPS launched attacks from the front, An Donghyeon was healing Sin Chusim, who was taking the damage.
As long as those two existed, the remaining five Hunters were practically invincible.
“Die!”
Kim Woojin shouted, swinging his sword. He was persistently targeting Hong Jigwang.
His goal was to incapacitate the captain to prevent forfeiture, then relentlessly crush the Anti-Overlord Alliance once forfeiture was impossible.
As if that weren’t enough, Jeong Cheonyeol, the Overlord Guild’s ranged DPS, stood beside the captain Im Jiyeon and was preparing to attack without any interference.
It was a state where anyone could tell the Anti-Overlord Alliance was being driven into a corner.
“Now!”
Hwajin shouted abruptly.
At that, Gangil, Jigwang, Chohui, and Hwajin, who had sent the signal, all withdrew from the front line.
“Eh!?”
Startled, Kim Woojin followed them with his eyes.
All of the Anti-Overlord Alliance’s DPS ignored the opponents they had been fighting just moments ago and ran toward the Overlord team’s rear.
Caught off guard by the sudden change, the three melee DPS of the Overlord team could not respond immediately.
“Gale!”
Hong Jigwang’s spear, charging at a terrifying speed, grazed An Donghyeon, the Overlord Guild’s healer and buffer, and blade-like winds blew, ravaging An Donghyeon’s entire body.
“[Ungwon]!”
Immediately after, Yu Chohui’s red gauntlet scored a clean hit on An Donghyeon’s torso, dealing a sure finishing blow.
An Donghyeon rolled his eyes back and collapsed, and at the same time, the [Soul of Iron] skill was dispelled.
“Upgraded Bisection Slash!”
Gangil’s huge axe, infused with mana, came down aiming for tanker Sin Chusim.
Sin Chusim thrust out his shield to block the axe, but countless cracks formed on the shield and soon it collapsed.
Gangil, whose strength had risen to 26, combined with the strength-based skill [Bisection Slash], possessed the power to finish off a mid-grade field boss in a single blow right now.
‘Damn it!’
Sin Chusim was bewildered by his broken shield.
Feeling killing intent, he broke into a cold sweat and turned around.
Behind him was a spear of flame and lightning.
“Single Flash!”
Kwaang!
Golden light flashed and heat surged.
Thud!
Sin Chusim, the Overlord Guild’s tanker, lost consciousness and fell face-first to the ground.
‘Impossible!’
Kim Woojin was shocked watching the process.
Tanker Sin Chusim’s vitality stat was a whopping 35, and his HP reached 700. It was the result of investing every single stat into vitality.
The Hunter holding the golden spear had sent such a person into a comatose state with a single strike.
‘In that case!’
Kim Woojin charged toward the Anti-Overlord Alliance’s rear. Now, while their DPS were away, was the opportunity.
Clang!
However, left in the rear was Jinhan, the vice guild leader of Atlas, a tanker.
Wearing purple armor, he thoroughly marked Kim Woojin, who was targeting the rear.
“Damn it! You two join the rear! Protect the ranged DPS!”
Kim Woojin decided to send his team’s two DPS back. He intended to remain and interfere with the Anti-Overlord Alliance’s support.
At Kim Woojin’s order, two melee DPS from the Overlord Guild ran out. They were a man holding a staff and a woman holding a whip.
“Would you wait a moment?”
A benevolent voice ill-suited for the crater where the battle was raging resounded.
Thud!
Seeing something heavy fall in front of them, the two Hunters’ mouths gaped open.
“I cannot let you interfere with them.”
What stood before them and winked was an old man with white hair and a beard. He had jumped high into the sky from the rear line just moments ago and landed in front of the two DPS.
The faces of the two melee DPS on the Overlord team were covered by the shadow of the Atlas Guild Leader.
The Atlas Guild Leader’s frame had grown to over three times its size.
He hadn’t simply grown larger; his entire body had transformed into muscle.
The cloth clothes he had been wearing moments ago were torn to shreds, exposing his torso and limbs.
“Wasn’t he the ranged DPS!?”
Kim Woojin screamed.
“Kyaaaaak!”
The female Hunter holding the whip screamed as if she had seen something terrifying and swung her whip.
“Oh dear.”
The guild leader lightly caught the whip with his hand as if it were a flying insect.
The female Hunter froze.
It was a whip infused with mana that could slice monsters in half with a light swing.
The guild leader grabbed the end of the whip and swung it upward.
“Kiyaaaak!”
The female Hunter, who had been holding the handle, flew up into the sky.
“Y-you crazy old geezer!”
The male Hunter holding the staff charged at the guild leader.
“Hup.”
Swack!
The guild leader swatted such a Hunter aside with one hand. The staff-wielding Hunter flew like an arrow and crashed headfirst into the crater wall.
Hwajin turned around and exclaimed in admiration.
‘As expected, a terrifying skill. [Gigantification].’
When the Atlas guild members raised their stats in the 7-star dungeon, the guild leader hadn’t absorbed a single magic stone.
The reason was very simple.
It was because the guild leader already possessed sufficient stats.
The guild leader’s highest stat, strength, was a whopping 32, and even his lowest stat, mental strength, was 18.
And while hunting the 7-star dungeon’s monsters, Hwajin and his colleagues learned for the first time that the guild leader’s position was melee DPS and tanker.
Hwajin, Gangil, and Hyeri, who had thought the guild leader was a ranged DPS or support type, had been speechless when they saw the guild leader become a muscular giant.
“Cheonyeol! Trap those four with a barrier!”
“Y-yes!”
At team captain Im Jiyeon’s order, Jeong Cheonyeol released the mana he had been compressing.
He had originally planned to trap and burn all the Anti-Overlord Alliance members, but now surviving was their priority.
A semi-transparent dome trapped the Anti-Overlord Alliance’s DPS.
“Purgatory!”
As flames arose inside the dome, Hwajin quietly drew the staff from his waist.
‘Evolve.’
As the flames disappeared, Hwajin immediately used [Complete Dispel].
Ten seconds later, the dome trapping them vanished, and Jeong Cheonyeol and the Overlord team’s captain were speechless.
“How on earth can something like this…….”
Im Jiyeon mumbled with her eyes wide open.
“Do you think this makes sense?”
Hwajin said with a sneer.
“It’s not like filthy, despicable scum like you would have fans.”
Im Jiyeon’s face completely contorted upon hearing those words.
“DPS team!”
Hwajin signaled to the teammates beside him, and the four DPS of the Anti-Overlord Alliance ran toward the Overlord Guild’s ranged DPS.
“Gale!”
“[Ungwon]!”
“Bisection Slash!”
“Single Flash!”
Jeong Cheonyeol and Im Jiyeon collapsed through the exact same sequence used when taking down the tanker and healer.
“D-damn it…….”
Kim Woojin froze, forgetting that he was even fighting the Anti-Overlord Alliance’s tanker.
In an instant, the cards the Overlord team held disappeared one by one.
The Anti-Overlord Alliance took down the tanker and healer who maintained their invincible state first, as if they already knew their skills; blocked the two DPS who tried to prevent further damage with a single powerful DPS-tank; and even nullified Jeong Cheonyeol’s skill combo, which was said to be inescapable once activated.
‘It’s as if our strategy completely leaked out, isn’t it?’
Kim Woojin gnashed his teeth.
This was a match he could not lose, and a match that would not be lost.
‘If we lose like this, the guild leader won’t let this slide…….’
Kim Woojin’s face turned pale. Before he knew it, the Anti-Overlord Alliance Hunters had surrounded him.
‘Damn it! I have no choice!’
Kim Woojin took a ring out of his pocket and put it on his index finger. Hwajin’s eyes widened seeing that.
‘A bound item!’
Hwajin raised his spear and used [Charge].
Knowing the broken effect of bound items, he tried to stop Kim Woojin before he caused trouble.
“Rampage!”
But Kim Woojin was faster.
With his shout, black mist escaped from the ring and enveloped his body.
While the Anti-Overlord Alliance Hunters froze in shock, only Hwajin continued to move.
“Single Flash!”
Hwajin thrust his spear at Kim Woojin, who was surrounded by mist.
Kwaang!
An explosive roar that seemed like thunder and an explosion occurring simultaneously rang out.
‘Damn it!’
Hwajin gritted his teeth. In the spot where sparks and flames had subsided, Kim Woojin stood perfectly fine with bloodshot red eyes.
“Kuaaak!”
Kim Woojin swung his sword.
Clang!
Hwajin blocked the blade aiming for his throat with his spear.
‘Ugh!?’
The opponent’s strength pressing down on the spear shaft was extraordinary. It felt as if the spear shaft would split in half at any moment.
“Everyone, charge! If we just take that one man down, it’s our victory!”
Hong Jigwang shouted so and rushed forward. Gangil and Chohui charged at Kim Woojin together with him.
“Grrrr…….”
Kim Woojin, who had been pressuring Hwajin, made a sound like a beast roaring. Blue mana was gathering on his sword.
Hwajin, who was clashing with him, could feel through his skin that the amount of gathering mana was extraordinary.
Goosebumps rose on Hwajin’s body.
“Everyone, stop!”
He shouted, but Jigwang, Gangil, and Chohui were already right near the two of them.
“Kuaaaak!”
Kim Woojin raised his sword and let out a bizarre shriek.
