Chapter 19

What to Do?

3 min read735 words

The next day, the sky stretched boundlessly clear, the blazing sun hanging high.

Mo Bei reclined against the locust tree, holding a wooden comb and putting his all into smoothing the Third Highness’s ink-black hair. Occasionally, he glanced at Hua Rong, who was carrying buckets to fetch water, and laughed lightly. “Eunuch Rong has such impressive strength. You truly don’t look as frail as you appear.”

“Once this one sees Your Highness, my whole body gets energized!” Hua Rong straightened his posture, a lecherous gleam in his eyes as he leaned over and said with a grin to Yelü Qianxiao, “Master really is so good-looking!”

Slap!

Slapping away the wolfish paw, Mo Bei said coolly, “Has Eunuch Rong found his money pouch?”

Whoosh!

A direct hit to a vital spot. Hua Rong pursed his lips and replied weakly with two words: “Not yet.”

“Judging by Eunuch Rong’s manner, there must be quite a bit of silver in that money pouch, no?” Seeing that he had settled down, Mo Bei plucked a branch of locust flowers and asked casually. With fair hands, he tied up Yelü Qianxiao’s waist-length hair and nodded in satisfaction. This face truly could pass for male or female, devastating enough to overturn all living beings.

“Speaking of silver, there isn’t actually that much. It’s just that this one has been poor since childhood, so losing it makes my heart ache.”

Mo Bei let out an “oh,” playing with a carved jade wolf fang in his hand, thinking to himself: Just keep pretending, keep pretending!

The banknotes in that money pouch, if exchanged for copper coins, could crush a person to death. Who wouldn’t be distressed at losing that!

As expected, just as he had thought, this big lecher had problems. It would be better to be on guard against him in the future.

“The item in Eunuch Mo’s hand looks incredibly valuable!” Hua Rong’s eyes widened greatly, as if he couldn’t believe what he was seeing.

His smiling eyes narrowing, Mo Bei patted Yelü Qianxiao’s head, which was shaking restlessly. “This thing was borrowed from a friend. It’s indeed quite nice.”

Borrowed? This person really knew how to choose his words—it was clearly stolen! Yelü Qianxiao foolishly smiled and tugged at Mo Bei’s sleeve, clamoring that he wanted to eat buns.

“Alright, don’t make noise. Sleep obediently! When night comes, I’ll go to the imperial kitchen and borrow a few!” Mo Bei pressed his head down onto his lap, planning to conserve his strength.

Don’t… make noise? Yelü Qianxiao clenched his teeth, the corner of his mouth twitching. Could this eunuch be raising him like a pet?

Mo Bei, very well. You truly “deeply win this lord’s heart”!

Just as he was thinking this, crisp mocking laughter suddenly came from the distance.

“A bastard is just a bastard; he’s only fit to keep company with lowly eunuchs. Little Qi, wouldn’t you say?”

Lowly eunuchs? Mo Bei dug at his left ear and looked over in that direction. It seemed that someone, even after being painted as a turtle, still couldn’t learn how to write the word “obedient.”

“Your Highness speaks rightly. This Zhi Nuan Palace is unclean. You should return with this servant. Don’t let these people sully your person.”

He Qi had a face full of bitter apprehension. The Crown Prince had instructed him to keep a good eye on his master and not allow him to casually bully the Third Highness again, but he was an old bag of bones and couldn’t hold him back no matter what!

Today, Yelü Aofeng wore a sapphire-blue robe, embroidered with multicolored birds clustered together in gorgeous brocade, a riot of colors. Swaggeringly flicking the small whip in his hand, he looked Mo Bei up and down with a smile. “Isn’t this the dog servant who blocked this prince’s whip yesterday? Your skin is quite fair and delicate.”

“Little Qi, bring a few throwing knives. This prince wants to see whether he dares block them this time.”

“Y-Your Highness.” He Qi swallowed his saliva and muttered hesitantly, “This seems rather inappropriate.”

Yelü Aofeng grabbed him by the collar. “What? Does this prince need to listen to your opinions when doing things?”

“T-this one was talking too much. This one will go prepare right now!”

Mo Bei looked at the arrogant little tyrant before him, his hands clenching and unclenching. What should he do now?
