Silver Dragon Chronicle Episode 83
“Why did you call for us?”
Un Wonnam asked Hong Yuhwa with a puzzled expression.
“Listen, you probably already know, but before long, the Blood Cult will lead all their forces here, right?”
As Hong Yuhwa spoke with a bright grin, Un Wonnam nodded.
“I know that. But why?”
“Don’t fight, and pull back as far as possible.”
“What?”
Ma Taeak made a dumbfounded expression.
“Why?”
“There are demons on that side too. If a lot of humans die while fighting, it’ll be a disaster.”
Watching Hong Yuhwa, who chortled as she spoke, Ma Taeak said with a bewildered expression.
“You, caring about something like that. I thought you’d just wipe them all out indiscriminately if they got in your way.”
At Ma Taeak’s words, Hong Yuhwa frowned.
“I’d like to, given my personality, but those bastards grow stronger the more people die. I bet several cities and villages in Seojang have already been annihilated by their hands.”
The information hadn’t been relayed, but Hong Yuhwa was certain. Since he had been beaten so badly in the fight with Jehwa and left, Jareuken must have killed countless people.
At Hong Yuhwa’s words, Ma Taeak’s face hardened stiffly.
“Then the more humans on our side die…”
“The stronger those bastards get, obviously.”
Hong Yuhwa said nonchalantly.
In truth, she too was quite anxious inside.
‘That bastard Jareuken, surely he hasn’t grown stronger than Jehwa?’
What worried her most right now was the possibility that Jareuken possessed the power of a Duke-class demon. If that happened, she could never defeat him.
“But if you knew that, why did you advance all the way here?”
Then, when Saheuk asked with a puzzled face, Hong Yuhwa let out a deep sigh.
“I didn’t know they’d come head-on like this. I was trying to chip away at the Blood Cult’s forces bit by bit. Anyway, now that it’s come to this, we absolutely must avoid an all-out war. If we just take care of those damned bastards, the Blood Cult will retreat on its own.”
If an all-out war broke out, it would be truly troublesome.
“You all help out too. We’ll do what we can, so you do what you can.”
“Understood.”
At Hong Yuhwa’s words, Ma Taeak nodded.
“Then shall we attempt a tactical retreat for now?”
Ma Taeak muttered, rising from his seat.
The Jeongsama forces became chaotic once more.
“Unni, Unni, play with me.”
“Don’t you have any sense of tension?”
“Anyway, if it gets dangerous, Mother or the others will come, so whatever.”
Hong Yuhwa looked at Baek Horan and let out a deep sigh.
Indeed, if it grew dangerous, they would surely step in.
But Hong Yuhwa wanted to finish this matter on her own terms if possible. Because after all, this was the Demon Realm’s business, and because it was the first mission she had received since being born.
“Here, I’ll give you this. Play with this.”
“Wh-what is that?”
Watching Baek Horan, who kept whining beside her, Hong Yuhwa pulled something out from her bosom. It was a round ball of yarn.
Baek Horan showed strong curiosity toward an item not found in the Central Plains. Besides, cats loved playing with balls of yarn!
“Hup!”
“Wow~”
As Hong Yuhwa threw the ball of yarn, Baek Horan, who had shown great curiosity toward it, chased after it. And she began batting at the ball of yarn and killing time.
“You really are just like a kitten.”
Watching Baek Horan play with the ball of yarn, Hong Yuhwa let out a chuckle.
“Ugh, what! Why on earth are we retreating?”
Seonu Ran let out a deep sigh.
“Pull back if they tell you to pull back. It’s dangerous.”
Watching such a Seonu Ran, Jehwa grumbled.
At Jehwa’s words, Sawollin asked.
“Is this the final battle?”
“Probably? We have to take revenge on the Blood Cult too, but we can do that later after everything’s over, by finding and killing all the ones who ordered the villagers to be killed.”
As Jehwa answered with a grin, Sawollin spoke.
“Then we’ll return to the village?”
“Hmm, I’m not sure. Hong Yuhwa said I have to return to my hometown.”
“Hometown…”
“But since I promised you first, I guess I’ll live there.”
As Jehwa spoke with an expression that said it was no big deal, Sawollin’s face brightened.
“Wait! Living together! What nonsense is that?”
Seonu Ran, who had been standing quietly nearby, asked in surprise, and Sawollin smirked as she spoke.
“We decided to live together in the village where Jehwa lived~”
“What?”
At Sawollin’s words, Seonu Ran made a stupid expression.
“I knew this would happen.”
Then, Hong Yuhwa’s sullen voice rang out.
“Fine, I shall personally accompany you as well.”
“You just go back to your hometown.”
“That will be more than enough for you to do after you die.”
As Sawollin spoke with a frown, Hong Yuhwa snorted.
“Are you going to return as a hunched old grandma?”
“That’s not even funny.”
Anyway, to Hong Yuhwa, a period of about sixty years passed in the blink of an eye. She didn’t know how much longer Sawollin would live, but human lifespans were all roughly the same anyway.
Watching Hong Yuhwa and Sawollin snarl at each other like that, Jehwa tilted his head and muttered inwardly.
‘It would be nice if they got along.’
As if that would happen.
“Wow~”
“What’s that?”
“Hm? Yuhwa Unni gave it to me.”
Watching Baek Horan happily playing with the ball of yarn, Yeom Johwi asked with a puzzled expression. In response, Baek Horan grinned proudly.
“We’re right before battle, so can’t you play later?”
Watching that, Hong Yuhwa frowned and spoke.
“Hing, just a bit more.”
“Ha! Confiscated!”
“Aah! No!”
In the end, Hong Yuhwa, unable to watch anymore, snatched away her ball of yarn, and Baek Horan shrieked at the sight.
“What are they doing?”
At that sight, Seo Ryongseon made a pitiful expression, but Jehwa simply smiled.
“Why? They look like they’re getting along.”
“It’s before the battle breaks out; they should be a lot more tense…”
“Just leave them be. Anyway… they’ve come.”
“….”
At Jehwa’s words, Seo Ryongseon’s gaze turned to the front. There, nine demons were walking toward them.
The grumbling Hong Yuhwa and Baek Horan also stopped playing around and looked there.
“That guy’s changed a lot.”
Looking at Jareuken, Jehwa muttered blankly.
Eventually, the distance between them closed enough to speak, and Jareuken smiled and spoke to Hong Yuhwa.
“Princess, you seem quite determined to die?”
“Hmph! What about you and the Blood Cult? Did you kill them all?”
As Hong Yuhwa frowned, Jareuken scoffed.
“I intend to make them clash head-on with the Martial Alliance. Wouldn’t it be effective to have those who hate each other kill one another?”
“You crazy bastard.”
“Kwahahahahaha!”
At Hong Yuhwa’s words, Jareuken burst into frenzied laughter.
“Have you lost it? You’ve totally gone insane.”
“Kekekek! Not at all, I’m perfectly fine.”
Watching Jareuken burst into laughter like a madman, Jehwa furrowed his brow, and the man shrugged his shoulders.
“You’ve done well hindering my work until now, Silver Dragon Prince, Eun Jehwa.”
“So what! Did you think I’d keep watching the crazy things you do?”
“Hah!”
At Jehwa’s words as he stuck out his tongue, Jareuken let out a low laugh. Then he raised his hand upward.
Ziiing!
“…!”
Jareuken, who had activated magic in an instant, threw that magic straight behind Jehwa and the others.
“Crazy!”
At that sight, Hong Yuhwa spat out a curse.
What Jareuken had used was ultra-long-range magic; if it flew as it was, it would definitely reach where the human warriors were gathered.
“Stop it!”
As Hong Yuhwa shouted in alarm, Jehwa quickly raised his fist. And aiming at the flying magic, he unleashed a straight thrust punch.
BOOM!
An energy projectile formed of gathered dragon demonic power flew at high speed and detonated the magic.
“An application of the Dragon Slaying Technique? As expected, impressive.”
At Jareuken’s muttering, Jehwa looked at him.
“You.”
“Hm?”
“Die.”
Swish!
In an instant, Jehwa appeared before Jareuken and swung his fist.
Thud!
Jareuken, who had blocked that fist, spoke with a savage grin.
“The one who will die isn’t me, but you.”
KWAGAGAGANG!
With that, the final battle in the Central Plains began.
“Just how are they fighting?”
At the faint roar of explosions heard from far away, Sawollin muttered blankly, and to that, Saheuk spoke.
“They are all beings far surpassing human standards. No matter how they fight, it’ll be beyond what we can imagine. Let’s hurry up and retreat… Hm?”
Saheuk’s face, which had been muttering blankly, hardened.
“Damn.”
Saheuk, who had muttered with a deep sigh, shouted.
“It’s the enemy! The Blood Cult has come!”
With that, the Blood Cult’s forces appeared before the martial artists.
“Did you think I wouldn’t be able to read your thoughts about withdrawing the Jeongsama forces?”
Watching Jareuken, whose dark-red eyes flashed as he unleashed magic, Jehwa shouted.
“Shut up!”
“I expected it! Anyone could easily predict that you would order us to withdraw them! The battle of humans is for humans! The battle of non-humans is for non-humans!”
Crack!
“Kuh!”
Hit in the side by Jareuken, who had shouted and swung, Jehwa staggered. Taking that opening, Jareuken’s magic bombarded Jehwa.
Boom!
Struck head-on by it, Jehwa felt his consciousness grow distant for a moment.
‘Ah, with her… I have to keep my promise…’
Seeing his floating body, Jehwa thought blankly.
Someone roared loudly.
Someone else restrained the owner of that voice.
The strange thing was that both voices were exactly the same.
Someone called out to Jehwa with a sorrowful voice.
But Jehwa had no strength to answer that voice.
Once more, that voice cried out desperately, and that shout awakened Jehwa’s distant consciousness.
That’s right. It was because he wanted to have a mother… that he became the Silver Dragon.
