Chronicle of the Silver Dragon
Episode 77
“Huh, seriously……. It’s absurd.”
When the young man, Mataek, spoke with an expression of disbelief, the conference room grew noisy once again. No, it tried to grow noisy.
But before that, one person quietly revealed his identity. It was none other than Jauham, the Lord of the Saryeon Alliance.
“That person is Senior Mataek, the Black Lion Great Sword, one of the Three Invincibles Under Heaven.”
At Jauham’s carefully spoken words, the inside of the conference room turned icy cold.
The elder of the Righteous Faction who had pointed a finger at him, as well as the members of the Heavenly Demon Divine Cult who had rebuked him, all had their faces stiffen rigidly.
“Why are there so many who’ve lost their guts these days?”
Watching Mataek snicker as he spoke, many people’s faces turned pale white.
“Quiet.”
Just then, an old man entered the conference room accompanied by two women.
“You two, take your seats.”
As the old man spoke to the two women, they went to the Heavenly Demon Divine Cult’s side and sat in empty seats.
They were none other than Sawollin and Akserin.
“E-excuse me, who might you be…….”
When an elder of the Saryeon Alliance cautiously asked about the old man’s identity……
“We greet the former Supreme Cult Leader of the Heavenly Demon Divine Cult!”
The members of the Heavenly Demon Divine Cult greeted him in unison, and upon hearing that greeting, the faces of the Righteous Faction members hardened.
There was only one former Supreme Cult Leader of the Heavenly Demon Divine Cult! The old man before their eyes was none other than Saheuk, one of the Three Invincibles Under Heaven.
Of the Three Invincibles Under Heaven, only Unwonnam of the Kunlun Sect, the greatest senior of the Righteous Faction, had not shown himself here. If things continued this way, the Righteous Faction’s voice could become the weakest.
It was when many were worrying so.
“Heh heh heh! There are two faces I’ve missed.”
A gentle old man’s voice was heard. Along with it, a gentle aura arose in the space that had been dominated by the fierce and overbearing auras of the two Invincibles Under Heaven.
Everyone’s gaze turned to the entrance of the meeting hall.
Only three people here knew Unwonnam’s face.
The first was Saheuk, the second was Mataek, and the third was Sawollin.
“Grandfather Unwonnam.”
“Have you been well?”
Unwonnam smiled gently and greeted Sawollin.
At the appearance of Unwonnam, who she had thought had no interest in worldly affairs, Sawollin showed a slightly flustered expression, and at her words, the meeting hall grew noisy again.
“It’s really been a long time for both of you.”
Watching Unwonnam speak with a delighted expression, Mataek snorted.
“You were still alive?”
Watching Mataek turn his head away sharply with a scoff, Unwonnam smiled gently and soon looked at Saheuk.
“It has been a while.”
To Saheuk’s quite courteous greeting, Unwonnam said,
“Indeed, it really has been a long time.”
Of the Three Invincibles Under Heaven, Unwonnam was the eldest, Saheuk was the second, and Mataek was the youngest.
“You who were cooped up in the mountains with no intention of coming out— you’ve surprisingly managed to come out here.”
As Mataek spoke while looking at Unwonnam, Unwonnam opened his mouth with a grave expression.
“It’s because I received word that many might die. I wished to lend what little strength I have.”
“I roughly understand the situation as well, but I don’t see it as being to the extent that you need to come down?”
Mataek made a puzzled expression. Clearly, there were those with monstrous strength, but Mataek believed that with himself, Saheuk, Eunjehwa, Hongyuhwa, and the like, it would be enough.
Mataek did not yet know the exact strength of Eunjehwa and Hongyuhwa.
But Unwonnam had some idea of those two’s strength. He knew all too well that even Hongyuhwa alone was an opponent whom all of the Three Invincibles Under Heaven could rush and still find difficult to handle.
“The situation is proceeding much more seriously than you think, my friend. This is not by the standards of humans. It is not even by our standards that transcend humanity; this is a battle of absolutes. We must lend even a little strength there.”
At Unwonnam’s words, Saheuk and Mataek showed surprised expressions.
“To that extent? How?”
“Because I have seen their strength firsthand.”
It was none other than Hongyuhwa who had contacted Unwonnam. Therefore, he could understand the current situation all too well.
In fact, he was at the point where he was still wishing this matter were a dream.
“Huu…….”
Unwonnam let out a deep sigh.
Only then did Mataek realize that the situation was turning worse than he thought.
With the appearance of the three foremost seniors of the Martial World, the meeting in the briefly stirred conference room resumed.
But they did not scream at the top of their lungs and chatter clamorously as before.
No, even if they wanted to, they could not.
With three of the Martial World’s strongest gathered here, who would dare bark so brazenly without fear? The conference room that had been noisy just moments ago was now utterly silent.
“Hey! It was as noisy as a marketplace just moments ago, so why is it so quiet?”
In the end, unable to bear it, Mataek scowled deeply and spoke, but still, not a single person in the meeting hall opened their mouth.
Watching that, just as Mataek deeply furrowed his brows……
“Excuse me.”
Akserin quietly raised her hand.
All eyes in the conference room turned to her, but Akserin paid no heed at all and giggled as she spoke.
“I know someone who would be very helpful for this current situation.”
“Who?”
At Akserin’s words, Saheuk made a puzzled expression and asked back. Smiling gently at that, Akserin looked toward the entrance. Then, everyone’s gaze turned to the entrance of the conference room.
A moment later, a woman and a man entered through it.
“Hello.”
Hongyuhwa greeted everyone in the conference room in quite a cheerful tone, while Jiugyeom was expressionless.
“…….”
Seeing that sight, the people inside the conference room said nothing.
“Huh? Why is the atmosphere like this?”
At this, Hongyuhwa looked puzzled.
“Don’t you think being cheerful in a serious atmosphere is rather strange?”
“Ugh, shut up!”
At Jiugyeom’s remark, Hongyuhwa, smiling broadly, spat out fierce words. And watching her, Mataek let out a sigh.
“Hey, watch your mouth. This is a place where those who currently move the Martial World have gathered.”
“So what do you want me to do about it?”
Hongyuhwa replied cockily to Mataek’s words.
Perhaps it was fortunate that she refrained from speaking informally, thanks to her eye for people. Though of course, if Jehwa were here, she would have spoken informally without hesitation.
Soon, muttering began here and there at Hongyuhwa’s cocky attitude.
“Quiet! You don’t make noise when you’re supposed to, so why is it so noisy when I’m talking! Do you think I’m easy, is that it?”
“…….”
At Mataek’s shout, the meeting hall fell silent once again. Letting out a long sigh, Mataek looked at Hongyuhwa and spoke.
“So, the girl over there said you’d be helpful in this situation?”
At those words, Hongyuhwa grinned and said.
“Of course! I know very well where the Blood Cult’s main base is.”
“What?”
“What did you say?”
“Young lady, is that true?”
It began growing noisy here and there. At that commotion, Mataek’s face naturally turned murderous.
“Didn’t I tell you to be quiet?”
“…….”
Watching the hall turn icy cold once more, Mataek snorted and asked Hongyuhwa,
“How did you find that out?”
Seeing his quite puzzled face, Hongyuhwa made an expression as if it were no big deal.
“I just tracked them and discovered those guys’ main base, that’s all. My subordinates fought a bit there, you see. It’s probably quite a mess by now?”
Jehwa and Seoryongseon were Hongyuhwa’s subordinates……. If they had heard that, Hongyuhwa would have gotten beaten to a pulp at the very least.
Whether it was a shame or a relief, they were not here right now.
Jiugyeom was listening to everything from beside her, but he was not the type to blab about it carelessly.
Anyway, Mataek had seen her subordinate’s strength. At the very least, the subordinate was definitely stronger than himself.
“Wait, subordinates?”
At that time, there had clearly been only one subordinate. Yet she had said “subordinates,” plural. That meant there were several.
“Why? Is that strange?”
“It’s not that, but…….”
Mataek slightly furrowed his brows.
The one he had seen back then was already someone with tremendous skill. To think there were more who were just as strong was nothing short of astonishing.
‘Just how is the Martial World operating?’
Mataek let out a small, deep sigh.
“So, since you’ve found out the Blood Cult’s main base, we’ll just storm it then.”
“Exactly!”
Hongyuhwa nodded.
Just then, an elder of the Saryeon Alliance sharply pointed out,
“But can we really trust that young girl?”
And with those words, voices of concern began to echo here and there. That she might pose a threat to the Martial World, that she might be a spy for the Blood Cult, that no one knew where she came from, that they could not heed the words of one whose origins were unknown—countless disgruntled voices rang out.
Naturally, those voices caused Mataek’s temper to flare.
Bang! Crack!
Mataek slammed the conference room table and it shattered on the spot. He had completely seized control of the meeting.
The only two people who could have stopped such a domineering one-man show simply watched his display with leisure. Unlike Mataek, they had no interest in worldly affairs.
Besides, it was also a bother to browbeat each person one by one as Mataek did. Since Mataek wasn’t trying to destroy the Martial World, there was no need for them to step in themselves.
They simply had to lend their strength to the appointed task, and that was all.
The people of the Heavenly Demon Divine Cult, the Martial Alliance……. Even the people of the Saryeon Alliance looked at Saheuk and Unwonnam, who were so nonchalant, but the two merely smiled gently.
“You can trust this one. I vouch for her.”
In the end, unable to stand it any longer, Mataek spoke with a deep sigh.
To be honest, Mataek wasn’t without doubts either. But thinking of the strength he had seen from her before, she possessed enough power to easily destroy the world known as the Martial World without resorting to such troublesome methods. If they pointlessly doubted her and her temper turned sour, it would be a disaster.
Yet despite Mataek’s certainty, many showed uneasy expressions, and just as his face was gradually darkening with malice……
“You may trust that one’s words.”
Smiling gently, Unwonnam lent weight to Mataek’s words.
