Chronicles of the Silver Dragon, Episode 65
“Rebound (反彈).”
‘Damn it!’
Boom!
“Kuhk!”
Struck by the Heaven-Earth Radiant Flame that rebounded in an instant, Hong Yuhwa tumbled across the floor.
“You know well what my specialty is.”
Marekran spoke with an indifferent face.
Marekran’s specialty was reflection magic, which returned an opponent’s attack back at them. And among such magic, Rebound was considered high-class.
“Shut up!”
Hong Yuhwa shouted through clenched teeth, but powerful demonic energy began surging into Marekran’s sword.
“Urgh!”
Eyes wide as she watched it, Hong Yuhwa trembled. It aimed precisely at her left chest, as though to pierce her black heart.
“Please…… rest peacefully.”
Marekran spoke with an indifferent face.
Shwick—
Just as Hong Yuhwa squeezed her eyes shut at Marekran’s sword rushing toward her with a sharp sound…….
Boom!
“……!”
Marekran stared with a stiff face at the foot that had kicked his sword away.
The demonic energy filling the sword had all scattered from that attack. This was a phenomenon that occurred when the sword received an attack with force nearly equal to the demonic energy contained within it.
“What the……”
Someone’s foot struck the chest of the muttering Marekran, his face somewhat stiff.
Thud!
Crunch!
Kicked by the foot, Marekran was slammed straight into the ground.
“Huh?”
Hong Yuhwa blankly raised her head. And she saw. A youth with long hair fluttering…….
The boy she liked so much, Eun Jehwa, was standing there.
Hong Yuhwa smiled softly.
‘Again……’
He had saved her again. She was so grateful to Jehwa, who appeared and saved her every time she was in danger.
“He’s totally a prince rescuing a princess.”
“What?”
Jehwa tilted his head at her words, spoken with a snicker.
“It’s nothing. Anyway, take care of those guys.”
Hong Yuhwa let out a deep sigh and pointed at Marekran and Kaberyan.
“Kuk! Wh-what……”
How could a human block an attack from a demon with the power of a demon count, let alone blow that demon away?
“What are those guys?”
“The enemy……”
“Hm…… But what’s with those horns on your head? Your ears are pointy too. Now that I look, you look kind of similar to them……”
“I told you. I’m a demon! Demons look like this by nature.”
“Heeh~”
Jehwa’s eyes, which had been examining Hong Yuhwa with an expression of fascination, turned cold.
He then looked at Kaberyan and smiled brightly as he swung his hand.
Crackle—
Then, ice spikes formed around Jehwa.
Thud-thak!
The ice spikes thus created began firing toward Kaberyan at tremendous speed.
Kaberyan blocked them with an illusion, and just as his face fiercely scrunched up, Jehwa arrived in front of him.
“……!”
“Die.”
Boom!
“Kraaagh!”
Jehwa placed his palm on Kaberyan’s chest and detonated his energy, causing Kaberyan to let out a pain-filled cry.
“Keok……”
Jehwa snickered as he looked at Kaberyan trembling and coughing up blood, and just as he tried to attack again…….
Shwick! Slash!
“……!”
A flashing violet sword light swept past the spot where Jehwa had stood.
Marekran, who had regained his senses at some point, had swung his sword at Jehwa.
Wiping the blood flowing from the corner of his mouth, Marekran glared at Jehwa with cold eyes.
“Wow, you’re already up? I kicked you pretty hard.”
Marekran frowned at Jehwa, who spoke with a surprised expression.
“By your standards, does that look like a human to you?”
“Keok! He is definitely a human, but…… how…… can a human have such power……”
Marekran let out a deep sigh as he looked at Kaberyan muttering with an expression of disbelief.
“Hm?”
Then, upon checking Jehwa’s face, he tilted his head.
“I feel like I’ve seen him somewhere before……”
Whoosh!
Toward Marekran, who was about to fall deep into thought, Jehwa kindly swung his fist.
“Shut your mouth and just die already!”
“He possesses strength worthy of making a princess fall for him. Strong. But……”
Marekran’s momentum changed.
“That is all. A human is nothing more than a human, after all!”
Shwick—
“Uk?”
Bam!
“Kuaaak!”
Marekran’s fist struck Jehwa’s face.
Marekran turned his head away indifferently as he watched Jehwa roll across the ground.
“Princess, it seems the one who came to save you has met his end.”
At Marekran’s words, Hong Yuhwa blankly looked toward where Jehwa had flown and crashed.
But Hong Yuhwa merely smirked.
“What is so funny?”
“You don’t remember?”
“……?”
“Well, you did despise him, after all.”
“What……!”
Marekran’s face, which had worn a puzzled expression, stiffened hard.
Not only that, but Kaberyan’s face, which had shown a relieved expression as he looked at the blown-away Jehwa, also stiffened hard.
Goooooh……!
A terrifying aura that pressed down heavily on the surroundings.
“This is…… draconic energy and draconic fighting aura?”
Kaberyan muttered blankly, his face pale white.
“Dragon Viscount? No, is he a Dragon Count?”
Marekran also muttered with a face of shock.
“Don’t tell me a dragon crossed over too? But where is it?”
“Uwaaaaaaah!”
Then, a roar from Jehwa was heard.
Marekran and Kaberyan, who had merely thought a dragon was hiding nearby, turned deathly pale.
“It can’t be!”
Marekran’s gaze turned to where Jehwa had crashed.
There stood Jehwa, his silver eyes flashing gruesomely.
“Silver Dragon?”
Feeling the cold chill that had eroded the surroundings, Marekran muttered. Then, soon, staring blankly into the cold silver eyes looking at him, Marekran widened his eyes.
“Silver Dragon Prince, Eun Jehwa?”
“Heeh…… you recognize me now?”
Hong Yuhwa said with a smirk.
“Impossible…… he was clearly dead.”
“Is now really the time to worry about that?”
Marekran’s body flinched at Hong Yuhwa’s words for a moment.
Boom!
Kicking off the ground, Eun Jehwa rushed at Marekran.
Smack!
“Keok?”
Eun Jehwa struck Marekran’s face, sending him flying, then gathered draconic energy in his hand and threw it at him.
Boom!
Marekran dodged it instinctively and shouted.
“If he is the Silver Dragon Prince, Eun Jehwa, how is it possible for him to possess such power! He was the weakest dragon in the history of the Dragon Realm! He couldn’t even properly use the Dragon Kill Technique!”
“How would I know that?”
Hong Yuhwa snapped irritably at his words, and Marekran’s face twisted in despair.
‘This is dangerous!’
Jehwa’s power already far surpassed his own.
“Kaberyan!”
Startled by Marekran’s call, Kaberyan tried to attack Jehwa with illusion arts.
Snatch!
“Huh?”
Riiip!
“Kuaaaack!”
But Jehwa, who had arrived in front of Kaberyan in no time, was tearing out one of his arms.
As Kaberyan screamed miserably from the agony of his arm being ripped out raw, Jehwa smiled brightly and said,
“Trash.”
Grab!
Having said that, he immediately grabbed Kaberyan’s horn.
Rip!
And without hesitation, he tore Kaberyan’s head from his torso.
Even a supreme demon would die if struck by such an attack.
But……
“Huh? He didn’t die?”
As Jehwa tilted his head, Kaberyan’s body scattered into smoke and then formed a torso again.
Though alive, he staggered as if he had suffered considerable damage.
“It’s the trait of illusionists. They don’t easily die in the illusion world they created.”
Hong Yuhwa, recovering herself, approached Jehwa’s side and spoke.
“Heeh, so then we just need to dispel this illusion?”
“Yes. But it’s not easy. You have to destroy it with power, and there’s a knack to it. You probably don’t know…… Huh? Jehwa?”
“Huuuup.”
“What are you trying to do……”
“Uwaaaaaaah!”
Just as Hong Yuhwa was about to panic, Jehwa suddenly let out a roar.
At that sound, she squeezed her eyes shut and covered her ears tightly.
“What the hell, my ears!”
Hong Yuhwa, about to complain, hardened her face the moment she saw the surrounding space folding away.
Not only Hong Yuhwa, but the other two demons as well wore bewildered expressions at the sudden situation.
‘The Dragon King’s Roar nullifies all magic.’
In that instant, a passage from a book she had read long ago flashed through Hong Yuhwa’s mind.
‘He may be the Silver Dragon Prince, but Jehwa is not a Dragon King.’
Lost in thought, Hong Yuhwa muttered inwardly like that, then flinched.
Come to think of it, Jehwa was even using the Dragon King’s ultimate technique, which normally required considerable age to perform no matter how much of a prince he was. And he was freely transforming its form at that.
That was no longer a matter of talent—it meant he already possessed the qualities of a king.
Perhaps Jehwa was an even more absurd being than she had thought.
The hidden potential inside also grew with age. The scope of one’s existence was determined by that potential.
‘This guy’s potential is already at the Dragon King level.’
Those enormous abilities he occasionally displayed were only possible because he had Dragon King-level potential.
‘It wasn’t just that he had talent! The qualities to become a Dragon King! The potential! The vessel! They were already complete!’
It was an impossible thing, yet that impossible thing had become reality and stood before her.
Honestly, she had thought there wasn’t much difference. The former Silver Dragon Prince, Eun Jehwa, had certainly been weak, but he had been about two hundred years older than Hong Yuhwa, after all.
She had thought his hidden talent had awakened upon becoming human, that the process of entrusting everything to a human had awakened that talent.
But when she lifted the lid, it wasn’t that. The one with talent far surpassing her own was none other than Jehwa.
‘I thought I could catch up if I worked hard……’
Hong Yuhwa muttered inwardly with a bitter expression.
“Now, let’s kill them all!”
The illusion had already been shattered.
The two demons distorted their faces at Jehwa, who spoke with a bright face.
“Jehwa Oppa! So you were here.”
At that moment, a girl appeared between them. It was none other than the cute-looking girl in her early teens, Baek Horan.
Baek Horan discovered Jehwa and smiled brightly, then discovered the injured Hong Yuhwa and was shocked.
