Silver Dragon Chronicles Episode 22

Chapter 6: The Boy Who Overturns the Kunlun Sect.

Jehwa and Sawollin spent that day at Unwonnam's thatched hut.

Jehwa was someone who slept quite a lot.

Not to mention his appetite—every action he took was that of a perfect child. Why did Sawollin like him enough to travel with him?

One could only conclude that Sawollin had questionable taste.

Anyway, Jehwa got up from his spot, rubbed his eyes, and opened the door.

Normally, Jehwa should have slept much longer.

Every morning, Sawollin would wake him with the same words: "It's not like we're fighting a war every morning, so why won't you get up!"

Jehwa, who had to wage war against Sawollin every morning just to wake up, had risen a bit early today.

And the reason for that was…

"Haat!"

Chaeng!

It was because two women were swinging swords at each other right in front of the thatched hut.

Jehwa's face contorted fiercely.

What had disturbed Jehwa's sleep was none other than the duel between Sawollin and Iseolhye.

The sound of sword clashing against sword, accompanied by ringing shouts, stimulated Jehwa's ears and inevitably woke him.

Jehwa's condition, having woken earlier than usual, was currently very poor.

Whether they knew it or not, the two women were focused solely on their duel.

But that lasted only a moment. Sensing an unusual aura, their bodies trembled. They stopped their duel and turned their heads toward the hut.

And they saw. Jehwa looking at them with those terrifying eyes…

The two women felt an inexplicable threat to their lives when they met his gaze.

"Wh-what, does this feel dangerous to you?"

"Y-yeah…"

He was puffing his cheeks out in displeasure, glaring at them. He looked cute, so why did he feel so terrifying?

"The duel… We probably shouldn't continue, right?"

"If we keep going, we might actually die?"

Sweating cold sweat, the two women lowered their swords.

"Ahahaha! Jehwa… D-did you sleep well?"

Sawollin greeted him awkwardly with a laugh.

But to Sawollin's greeting, Jehwa only shook his head.

"……."

"Y-you c-couldn't sleep well?"

At this question, Jehwa nodded.

Why ask something so pointless and shorten your own lifespan, idiot!

At Sawollin's question, Jehwa narrowed his eyes, got up, and trudged toward a large rock near the hut.

Just when everyone was making puzzled expressions at Jehwa's strange behavior.

"Eurya!"

Kwagagagang!

Jehwa shattered the huge rock with a kick.

Watching this, Sawollin and Iseolhye's faces turned pale.

"I'm sleepy!"

Jehwa roared.

"……."

Unwonnam, who had briefly gone to the mountain to pick medicinal herbs, looked at the two women collapsed in the yard with a dumbfounded expression—his disciple Iseolhye, and Sawollin, the daughter of the Heavenly Demon Divine Cult's leader.

"U-u-uh……."

"A woman's face is her life……."

Both of them had dark bruises around both eyes.

"You two, why are you like that?"

"A bad guy hit us."

Iseolhye said tearfully in response to Unwonnam's question.

"What for?"

"We were noisy and woke him from his morning sleep, so he seemed a bit irritated."

Sawollin spoke while collapsing to the ground, and Iseolhye followed with a resentful expression.

"A bit irritated and he hits people!"

"That kid once tried to kill someone just for cutting down a tree he cherished. This much is nothing."

"Wh-what, there are actually people like that!"

At Iseolhye's bewildered words, Unwonnam clicked his tongue lightly.

"He is too pure and knows nothing."

"What?"

For a moment, Iseolhye, who had been grumbling, made a blank expression at Unwonnam's words.

"They say a pure child is cruel. That boy is just like that. A boy who knows no sin at all."

"Does that make sense?"

Iseolhye asked back in disbelief.

Where in this world was there a person who knew no sin? Of course, young children who didn't know right from wrong didn't know sin.

But that was at best between the ages of five and ten. At Jehwa's age, he had already passed the age where he couldn't distinguish such things. Yet her master was speaking as if Jehwa were a child who knew nothing.

"How did you know?"

Then, an even more absurd question was heard.

At Sawollin's surprised question, Iseolhye had to make an even more blank expression.

And to Sawollin's question, Unwonnam smiled bitterly and said.

"His eyes are too clear and pure. As if he doesn't know the filth of the world… I guessed from that. Just how did that child grow up?"

"I don't know. I haven't known him long either. He was living in a small village… He came out seeking revenge after seeing the villagers killed by the Blood Cult."

Sawollin gave a bitter smile.

"Is that so?"

Then Unwonnam also gave another bitter smile and looked at his house.

Iseolhye, who had been blank for a moment, asked with a puzzled expression.

"By the way, Master, where did you go since morning?"

"Ah, I went to pick some medicinal herbs."

"Medicinal herbs?"

"Yes, didn't that child injure his hand yesterday? I set the bone, but I thought it would be good for him to take medicine too."

Since his fingers had been broken yesterday, Jehwa currently had bandages on his hand.

Shortly after, Unwonnam entered the house with the two women. Seeing Jehwa wearing an extremely fierce expression, he let out a deep sigh.

"Eat this."

"What is it?"

"It's a medicinal herb good for bones."

At the words offering him something to eat, Jehwa's eyes sparkled. Unwonnam handed him the medicinal herbs.

Jehwa sniffed the herb and tilted his head. Then, after glaring at it for a moment, he swallowed it whole.

Since it was something to eat, he accepted it without suspicion.

Deopseok!

Eujeok! Eujeok!

"……."

But the more he chewed the herb, the more Jehwa's face began to harden.

"What's wrong?"

When Sawollin asked puzzledly, Iseolhye said with an awkward expression.

"That's ridiculously bitter."

"What!"

Sawollin was shocked at Iseolhye's words.

"That kid goes berserk when he eats bitter things!"

Sawollin shouted with a pale face, remembering the incident when she had fed him herbs good for internal injuries and the pavilion had been reduced to rubble. At her words, Iseolhye's face also turned pale.

"Tweh!"

Then Jehwa spat out the herb directly, scrunched his face up, and shouted.

"Bitter!"

And with that, the house became a complete mess.

The morning filled with many words and troubles passed.

Jehwa throwing a tantrum over the bitterness; Sawollin and Iseolhye calming him down.

They had barely calmed him down when Jehwa saw the grass scraps they called breakfast and went on a rampage once again.

"Ugh… What kind of man is like that?"

Iseolhye muttered with a frown, looking at Jehwa staring blankly at the sky outside the hut.

"He's always been like that."

Sawollin said with a deep sigh. Then, as if suddenly remembering something, she opened her mouth again.

"You know a lot about the Kunlun Sect, right?"

"No, I don't."

Sawollin was bewildered seeing Iseolhye shake her head.

"Why? Your master should be the highest elder of the Kunlun Sect, shouldn't he?"

"Well… I only learned martial arts in the mountains; I've never actually been to the Kunlun Sect. It's the same for Master."

"……."

Just as Iseolhye grinned at the bewildered Sawollin.

"Not going to the Kunlun Sect?"

Jehwa, who had been blankly looking at the sky, asked Sawollin. At her awkward expression, Jehwa spoke again.

"I'll go alone then."

"Huh? W-wait."

Sawollin urgently stopped Jehwa, who looked like he would dash off to the Kunlun Sect immediately.

"Uh… I mean, we don't have any information yet, right? Rather than looking blindly, finding information is…"

"Those Blood Cult bastards give off a foul stench. If they're nearby, I can find them easily enough."

At those words, Sawollin brought up another reason.

"Your fingers still hurt."

"They're all healed."

"L-lies!"

Just how tremendous was his regenerative power that broken bones had mended overnight? Wasn't this truly a scam?

Sawollin urgently examined Jehwa's hand, and seeing his completely healed fingers, she shouted.

"Th-this is such a scaaaaam!"

Je-hwa frowned at Sawollin shouting with a shocked expression and lightly hit her.

Ppak!

"Ugh!"

"Noisy."

Hit by Jehwa's fist, Sawollin immediately backed away.

"Anyway, let's go find them right now."

Sawollin, clutching her head and groaning, opened her mouth.

"Let's take our time. We can't just enter the Kunlun Sect carelessly right now."

"Why?"

"The Kunlun Sect is steeped in Daoism far more deeply than the Wudang Sect; it's not a place just anyone can enter. Besides, I'm from the Heavenly Demon Divine Cult. The Heavenly Demon Divine Cult and the Kunlun Sect have been on bad terms for a long time. If I'm found out to be from the Heavenly Demon Divine Cult, it'll be a huge headache."

At that, Jehwa tilted his head and said.

"That has nothing to do with me. Let's just go."

"Have you been listening with your earlobes, or did you shove my words up your nostrils! Why can't you understand what I'm saying!"

The exploded Sawollin couldn't overcome her temper and shouted.

But as always, Sawollin's choice was not a very good one.

"Who the hell do you think you are, barking and throwing a fit at me!"

Ppak!

"Kkuak!"

Je-hwa, feeling upset seeing Sawollin getting angry at him, hit her again.

Ppak! Ppak! Ppak! Ppak!

"Ack! Ack! Ack! Ack!"

And four times in a row at that…

Sawollin, who had been hit on the head four times in a row, clutched her head and began rolling around on the ground.

How painful must it be to be hit four times in a row by a fist that could bring tears to one's eyes with a single blow?

Iseolhye, who had been watching the situation blankly from afar, said with a trembling body.

"Th-that guy is definitely a demon."

"Is someone cursing me? Why are my ears so itchy?"

Heumchit!

At Iseolhye's words, Jehwa frowned and scratched his ear with his pinky finger.

At that sight, Iseolhye flinched and pretended to look at the distant mountains.

"Uuuugh……."

Then, Sawollin, who had barely escaped the pain, began glaring at Jehwa with teary eyes.

Je-hwa snorted lightly at that gaze.

But when Sawollin kept looking at him with a face full of resentment, crying, he eventually squatted down in front of her and cautiously opened his mouth.

"Um… Does it hurt a lot?"

"Why don't you try hitting your own head four times with your own fist, the way you hit mine."

At those words, Jehwa averted his gaze and urgently apologized.

"S-sorry. S-stop glaring at me."

Still, Sawollin did not stop glaring. Overwhelmed by her momentum, Jehwa hung his head deeply.
