Chronicles of the Silver Dragon

Episode 2

“No wonder it stank to high heaven……. Those bastards are the ones in the wrong. Then I'll just have to wipe them all out.”

At Jehwa's words, Dokgo Ryeong jumped in surprise.

He wondered if this boy truly possessed the strength to wipe out those vicious Blood Cult warriors.

“You, don't jump in just because you lucked out taking down one. It could get dangerous——”

Just as Jehwa took a stance as if to charge at the Blood Cult warriors that very instant, Seonu Ran's face, which had been urgently warning him, stiffened rigidly.

*Smack!*

“Gwaack!”

Suddenly, a crisp impact sound and someone's desperate scream rang out from behind. Seonu Ran jumped in surprise and turned her head.

Looking there, she saw Jehwa raising havoc with his bare fists.

“You rotten sons of bitches! You're all dead!”

Along with that, a thunderous roar erupted from Jehwa's throat.

Bae Aekgil, leader of the Blood Cult's Blood Wolf Squad, glared with wide eyes at Jehwa knocking down his subordinates.

“Where in the world did that bastard come from!”

Having received orders from the Blood Cult to ambush Seonu Ran and Dokgo Ryeong, who had separated from the Martial Alliance delegation to go sightseeing, he had led his Blood Wolf Squad to attack them.

And just as things were going more smoothly than expected, and he was inwardly satisfied and gradually trying to wrap things up, a boy suddenly appeared and overturned the situation in an instant.

‘He's a master.’

Watching his ghostly fast fists sweep through the Blood Wolf Squad, Bae Aekgil's face hardened.

Every time the boy swung his fist, one Blood Wolf Squad member fell without fail.

“Eeek!”

Unable to watch any longer, Bae Aekgil drew his sword and charged at the boy, shouting.

“You bastard!”

As Bae Aekgil roared and swung his sword, Jehwa snorted lightly and dodged the blade.

*Whoosh!*

His sword narrowly grazed past Jehwa. Bae Aekgil's face stiffened.

“You crazy bastard, sitting there throwing a fit.”

Jehwa grinned and raised his fist.

“You need a beating to come to your senses too!”

*Thwack!*

“Gurk~!”

As Jehwa's fist struck his face, a terrifying shock ran through him and strength drained from his legs, but he gritted his teeth and endured.

But that was the worst possible choice for Bae Aekgil…….

“Oh? You didn't go down in one hit? Then how about this?”

*Thwack!*

“Keugh!”

Watching Bae Aekgil standing firm and enduring, Jehwa made an amused expression and kicked him squarely in the jaw. In that instant, an enormous shock jolted through his jaw, and Bae Aekgil's body flew into the air.

Seeing Bae Aekgil airborne, Jehwa put his weight and strength into his front foot, grinned wickedly, and threw a punch straight out.

*Thud!*

*Crunch!*

“Kraaagh!”

From that attack, Bae Aekgil's chest caved in completely.

*Thud-thud-thud~ Crash~ Roll-roll-roll…….*

Not only was his chest caved in, he flew far away, crashed into something, and rolled across the ground! He looked like he wouldn't survive.

Jehwa grinned and dusted off his hands with a few claps.

Watching that smile, the Blood Cult warriors felt chills run down their entire bodies. It was a smile that could only be called the smile of a Death God.

“You're all dead.”

The moment Jehwa's words fell, the Blood Cult's Blood Wolf Squad let out screams of despair.

“Nothing-special bastards kicking up a fuss.”

Jehwa frowned and muttered with an annoyed expression.

“You! What are you?!”

When Seonu Ran shouted with a face full of wariness, Jehwa stared straight at her and puffed out his cheeks.

And then he charged straight at Seonu Ran.

“Wh-what!”

Seonu Ran, who had made an expression of shock when Jehwa suddenly charged at her, let out a scream a moment later at the immense pain she felt in her head.

*Smack!*

“Aagh!”

Jehwa, who had slammed his fist into Seonu Ran's head, muttered as he watched her clutch her head and roll around on the ground.

“Now it's finally quiet.”

Watching Seonu Ran roll on the ground groaning before shutting her mouth, Jehwa was satisfied.

When everyone made blank expressions at his appearance, Jehwa's face twisted fiercely.

“What are you all staring at?”

At that refreshingly brutal(?) gaze, everyone flinched and quickly turned their heads away.

This was the guy who annihilated the Blood Cult warriors and did that to Seonu Ran just for making noise! The Martial Alliance warriors thought they wouldn't fare well if they got on such a guy's bad side.

But no matter where you go, there are always those who can't come to their senses even after being beaten.

“Eek! Why did you hit me!”

Seonu Ran, barely freed from the pain in her head, shouted with tears welling in her eyes, and Jehwa spoke nonchalantly.

“Because you were noisy.”

“You hit someone just because they're noisy? You want to die?”

*Smack!*

“Aagh!”

The Martial Alliance warriors averted their eyes from Jehwa even more as they watched him strike the head of Seonu Ran, who was talking back again, and saw her roll on the ground from the blow to her head.

Their appearance, carefully trying not to make eye contact and get beaten up by chance, looked truly pathetic.

After a moment, once the pain had subsided somewhat, Seonu Ran launched an attack at Jehwa this time.

But her attack was blocked by Dokgo Ryeong.

“Ran-ah, calm down!”

“Eek! Let go! I'm going to kill that guy!”

Her, trying to shake off her friend's hand that was restraining her, and Dokgo Ryeong, trying to stop her stubborn self.

Jehwa grinned broadly as he watched Seonu Ran glaring at him as if she would kill him.

“As if that would scratch my face? Fool.”

“Wh-what! This son of a—!”

*Tak!*

“Ack!”

A burning pain flared on the forehead of Seonu Ran, who had bristled at his words, and an excessively crisp sound echoed around them.

Jehwa had instantly approached Seonu Ran and flicked her forehead with his finger.

“Uuugh…….”

She was too busy glaring at Jehwa to even think of wiping the tears welling in her eyes, but even at her gaze, Jehwa just grinned and fanned the flames.

“Why are you making such a fuss over something like that? You sure are dramatic~”

Sparks flew from Seonu Ran's eyes.

“This bastard really wants to die!”

Jehwa looked for a moment at Dokgo Ryeong, who was trying to stop the enraged Seonu Ran from charging, then turned his gaze back to Seonu Ran and smiled brightly.

“Let's never meet again~ Don't show up in front of me from now on. If you catch my eye again next time, I'll stomp you flat, you ill-mannered wretch.”

“Kuh! You stop right there!”

In the end, Seonu Ran exploded in rage, drawing her sword and trying to hack at Jehwa. But being blocked by Dokgo Ryeong, her blade only cut through empty air.

“R-Ran-ah! Hold on! Hold on!”

“Let go of me! If I don't cut that bastard today, I'm not Mubong, I'm Dunbong!”

Seonu Ran hacked wildly at the air and screeched, and Jehwa dug his pinky finger in his ear once before spinning away and leaping off.

“What kind of guy even is that!”

Dokgo Ryeong smiled awkwardly at Seonu Ran, who was fuming as she looked in the direction Jehwa had disappeared.

“He was the one who helped us, so hold it in.”

“B-bun? The character 'bun' as in 'person' is too good for a guy like that! Agh, it hurts.”

Seonu Ran, who had been shrieking, clutched her head and let out a groan.

“Does it hurt that much?”

When Dokgo Ryeong asked worriedly, Seonu Ran spoke in an annoyed voice.

“It hurts like hell. That bastard……. He definitely infused inner strength when he hit me.”

At those words, Dokgo Ryeong examined Seonu Ran's forehead closely and was shocked to discover a dark blue bruise forming.

“R-Ran-ah! Your forehead… it's not red, it's turned blue…….”

“Wh-what?”

Horrified by Dokgo Ryeong's words, Seonu Ran rushed to the carriage, pulled out a hand mirror, and looked at her forehead with trembling hands.

“Th-this!”

Killing intent flared in her eyes.

“Hey, you wretched bastard! You're dead by my hands next time we meet—! How dare you, to the face of a woman whose face is her life!”

Seonu Ran screamed at the top of her lungs.

Jehwa, who had distanced himself from the Martial Alliance group, twisted his face in annoyance at Seonu Ran's scream that rang out from behind him.

“What kind of woman shrieks like that?”

He swept his long hair back and narrowed his eyes.

“Should I go straight back and beat her up again?”

Jehwa seriously pondered for a moment, but then stopped caring and headed straight for his home.

“What happened here?”

Jegal Hwan, the young master of the Jegal Clan, asked Dokgo Ryeong, who had returned, with a bewildered expression.

Most of the warriors were injured, and many others were nowhere to be seen.

“We were ambushed.”

“Ambushed?”

When Jegal Hwan jumped in surprise at Dokgo Ryeong's words and asked, a Martial Alliance warrior standing nearby answered with a stiff face.

“We were ambushed by people who appear to be from the Blood Cult.”

“The Blood Cult?”

At those words, Jegal Hwan's face hardened.

“No, how could such a thing happen? The Martial Alliance's delegation heading to the Heavenly Demon Divine Cult was ambushed? And by the Blood Cult, the public enemy of Murim?”

“It was a close call…….”

Dokgo Ryeong smiled awkwardly at Jegal Hwan's excited shout.

“However, I don't see Lady Seonu Ran…….”

Jegal Hwan looked over the Martial Alliance warriors for a moment and asked with a puzzled expression, because he couldn't see Seonu Ran, who under normal circumstances would have immediately come out of the carriage to spew every curse under the sun at the Blood Cult.

“Th-that is……. She's inside the carriage.”

“The carriage? Was she injured?”

When Jegal Hwan asked with a puzzled expression, Dokgo Ryeong shook her head.

“She's not injured. It's just that there's a bit of a problem…….”

“A problem?”

Jegal Hwan tilted his head, but Dokgo Ryeong only smiled awkwardly.

“She just……. said she won't come out of the carriage for the time being…….”

At those words, Jegal Hwan narrowed his brows and said.

“What is the reason?”

“W-well, who knows?”

As Dokgo Ryeong seemed to be avoiding the answer, Jegal Hwan narrowed his eyes.

“Lady Seonu Ran.”

He eventually approached the carriage and called for Seonu Ran. But from inside the carriage, there was only silence.

“Well……. I think Ran might be a little tired.”

Dokgo Ryeong spoke with an awkward smile, but Jegal Hwan shook his head with a stubborn expression.

“I'm worried, you see. It would be terrible if something were wrong, wouldn't it?”
